@Mr Doof deleted that image just in case. i noticed you (someone?) marked out critical info, but used a highlighter color that still allowed the font to be read, including email address and exchange info.

on the topic of BTC, its been shedding weight like a meth head stripper...is the whale strategy "ok now we've sold off a significant interest, let's watch it tank whilst Germany & Mt. Gox sell off and then buy back in?" you guys are so much smarter than me....

Usual cycle sh!t.

BTC ramped hard for 6 months straight. We needed a cool down. People will look for any narrative they can find to help drive down prices now that they've opened a lot of short positions. Germany selling. Oh no! US gov selling. Look out! Mt. Gox distribution. Be careful!

lol

IMO we are heading into the doldrums for most asset classes. Zillow is saying that home prices will dip in 2025. Noticing that properties in my area are sitting on the market longer and dropping prices. Only the top tier neighborhood properties are moving quickly.

Crap! Thanks for the catch...thought I blitzed the info better.

Anyway, the upshot is the Bitcoin account I had set up via the Mt. Gox settlement was initiated by the Mt Gox trustee and accepted by my exchange account on July 3, 2024.

Which means that maybe this 10+ year experience with the Japanese legal system will conclude with me receiving a small % of my original mined Bitcoins.

Will have to see....in theory, this should have happened earlier per official notices.

Mining them way back when was more for the 'trying/doing' side of things than as a way to make actual legal tender, and the only way to get USD out of it was to open a Japanese bank. convent Bitcoin to Yen, use something like Western Union to convert/wire to USA account...losing money to exchange costs along the way.

Holding for the lolz.

It all started to just see what I could do at home and see where it would take me:

1. Set up Linux box.
2. Use Radeon 3400 with Phenom cpu.
3. Mine them myself.
4. Join mining pool.
5. Move coins around through various protocol, settling at Mt Gox and stopping the bandwidth drain.
6. About a year later, find out they are gone
7. Join class action lawsuit, wait nearly 14 yrs till now to get small percentage back.

Easier to maintain interest in it all when I have some 'skin' in the game......but maybe if I had the original amount of Bitcoins, I would sell some.

Edit:

By the way, this is Mt Gox's own calculator showing what a person could expect back (at today's price for a Bitcoin) if they had lost 1.0 Bitcoins...from $65K to 6.8K:
