speaking of support your local shaper....im guilty of not knowing any LA board builders that do good HPSB and small ALT thingies like fishies and whatnot.

Tim aint exactly local by definition but obvy he is my go to.

who's the best up here?
My list is mostly South Bay. All these guys are top notch. Pat Ryan shaped my first custom back in the 70's. Zen Del Rio shaped my last custom back in the 90's. Oakfoils would be your go to for alt shapes. Zen or Bark for guns. Oh yeah, and a guy named Don Kadowaki, zero web presence but must have a word of mouth following (or ask for him at the 26th St. lot ...now famous Bruce's Beach).

West of the Atlantic. East of the ICW.
I've been riding mostly self shaped and glassed boards for many years. Only boards I have in my personal quiver that aren't self shaped are a Rich Price shaped Natural Art from the early 90s, a Jon Carper Mel Machine that my oldest son rides as a step up, a Stewart Redline11, a vintage Con miniPin, and a very early Jim Phillips vintage 9'6 tanker. All of my shortboards have been self shaped for the past 20+ years. Prior to that my shortboards were from Jon Carper and Richard Price.

Hmmm that's all? I need to get more...

Antiques from my earlier surf days:
Local Motion: unsure if shapers name is on it ~1988.
Fox Wave Weapon: Greg Loehr ~1982, my high school board, all fixed and water tight.

Oh the nostalgia:
