Seems like this decision wasn't completely thought through.
I personally think that any thread that devolves into name calling stupidity should be moved to the locked politics forum

Gromturd started getting under my skin. I stopped posting.

it really serves no no purpose. There’s no magazine and the website doesn’t actually feature any original surf content. If eyeballs are the goal then Duffman is right - they just killed the golden goose.

I’m just happy that I can unignore a bunch a posters. Pain in the butt to keep doing it manually for individual surf related posts.
The print edition is coming back.
I've seen some of the future content and it's looking decent. Heard it will be quarterly.
Design forum is way active, and the politics guys don't post there.
There are a ton of people that lurk here too btw more than registered users.

Commercial fishing and construction are my new hobbies on the side.
There are two posters that pop into threads on the main forum for the sole purpose of interjecting politics.
One doesn't surf and the other is a SUPer - I don't think anyone would cry if either disappeared for a bit.
The rest of the posters who are grieving the loss of the politics forum will get over it (unless they try to sink the whole ship, which seems to be the new tactic).
A “decent” magazine is sure to be a moneymaker lol.
I laughed at Stab when they went to a pay model but they put out some really watchable product. I still don’t subscribe but it seems to be working.
And no, nothing compares to politics when it comes to traffic.
