Whistle Pig. At least if I’m flush. The 15 year old stuff is good. The Boss Hog will run about $500 a bottle. I have a friend that buys it. Some of the Japanese whiskies are worthy. Like the Nikka Coffey Grain Whisky.

I’m mostly not drinking lately.

maybe that’s the problem

I only drink bourbon in the winter.

Never Jack or Jim.

Bulleit (never rye) as a standard. Labrot & Graham Woodford Reserve for a decent bottle. It goes up from there, although there are a couple between $20-$30 that are proper.

NEVER above 90 proof as a rule.

Basil Hayden. Not much for rye, but I like it anyways. Anything more oak and smoke than sweet and sour.
Jack Daniel's isn't bourbon, it is pure unadulterated spirit and love, bottled ala Samantha Stevens, or Pikachu, defying laws physical and statuary.

MM46 or Basil Haydens is generally my go-to options for not too-expensive neat drinks. Bulleit I like to use when mixing. Only had Whistlepig and Bookers once. Very good. Never tried a Pappy's. Michters rye is good.

heh, same. Probably because I usually stick to (cheap) beer. Maybe I should try whiskey.

Nothing much to add to this thread but I like regular Maker’s Mark and 46, (especially for the price) depending on how fancy I feel.

My house typically stocks Bulleit. Costco helps this habit. I'll make drinks with whatever is there though.

I remember reading that an overwhelming majority of bourbons source from the same distillery, then have proprietary blends.

I don't spend much money on bourbon for the same reason I don't spend much money on surfboards. I don't have a lot of money to spend on them.

I only drink Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey

Jim Beam
Bulleit
Basil Hayden's
Colonel E.H. Taylor - small batch or single barrel

Try tell me I'm wrong. :shaka:
Basil Hayden's is really good. More of an upper mid range in price but worth it. There are a lot of Bourbons in that same price range that are poorer in quality.

check this stuff out...

the Lost Monarch was on sale at Vons for 27$

it's tasty...better than bulleit rye

I really like that it's made in CA....I was buying whiskey for a little treat at
the end of the night during this backpacking trip and it seemed apropos
to get the whiskey dedicated to John Muir
