seriously.......to not have to sit through one of these stupid ceremonies and not have to socialize with all the phony tinseltown kooks. Totally worth it.
Hey, Euros have the Eurovision, if we didn't have the Oscars, we wouldn't have anything so cheesy we can point at and laugh while drinking cheap prosecco.

CODA was a good movie, but not a Best Picture. Power of the Dod was a Best Picture

she has alopecia. Chris implied that her short hair was because she was preparing for a movie

Not that Oscars didn't deserve it but, like somebody said, what message does this send to other comedians?
Not to make jokes about people's family members who have illnesses?

I mean I find it hard to think you can't get through an Oscars hosting without going in on some dude's wife's illness.

It was a joke and an open-hander. Nothing burger on a plane bun, no cheese, no lettuce, no tomato, no onion, no bacon, no mushroom, no condiments. If it happened anywhere other than The Oscars, The Met Gala, or the White House Correspondents Dinner, nobody would give half a f--k.

What’s the context for why saying something about Jada being in GI Jane 2 was so offensive?
The character has her head shaved and Jada has alopecia.

She suffers from alopecia.

"Suffers" may be a strong word here.
Did she get alopecia from buying her kids way into USC?
Did she get alopecia from doing copious amounts of coke?
Did she get alopecia from smoking cigars and popping oxy on her talk radio show in between bouts of viagra-fueled hookbanging in the Dominican Republic?
Did she tell everyone to scalp-massage hydrochloric acid because shampoo is big pharma fake n00z?

Of course it was dumb, rude and unfunny on Rock's part but words never warrant physical assault.

Especially from somebody who is in show business and knows what the deal is.
This is what comedians do and if you're an actor at the top of your game, with fück you money, you always have a target on your back.
Ricky Gervais said way worse things on stage in front of celebrities.

Will Smith could have taken it to the media after the ceremony and hurt Rock way more than he did with a slap.
But no.

The joke was dumb and offensive (not funny either) but you don't physically assault people over a joke.
I mean, Ricky Gervais wouldn't have been alive if that was the case.

Just the fact that he was allowed to return to his seat, like nothing happened and stay there in the front row for the rest of the ceremony, is something the Oscars should never live down.

Imagine if some unknown seat filler walked up and assaulted someone on stage?
He would have been tased and possibly shot.

I couldn't agree more.

It happens all the time brah. Do you want me to post the vid of the 70-something walking through a parking lot in Florida who didn't like how fast some guy was driving his pickup truck through the parking lot, said something, and got fed a dozen right hands for his trouble, then had his phone broken so he couldn't call da cops?

Because I feel bad for the 70-something, but not Chris Rock.

If you have fvck you money, and someone talks sh!t, they might have a target on their face. That's the whole goddamn point of fvck you money.

Will Smith could have taken it to the media after the ceremony and hurt Rock way more than he did with a slap.
But no.
It's not about "taking it to the media" like a beta ass bitch boy. It's about a personal line was crossed, and there were instant repercussions. It's not about hurting Chris Rock. It's about negatively rewarding the mouth that talked sh!t.

Or it was staged and Will is trying to impress Jada. I dunno.

I think there is some backstory here, Smith was holding a grudge for some reason.

Jokes about someone's illness. Men fighting over women. woman who was being "defended" ends up with her illness in the world's spotlight and having to take care of her out of control husband. It's the 80's all over again. Some people here should be proud.
