My thoughts exactly..

I guess the new Triple Crown would be winning: Pipe, the Triple Crown and Wave of the Winter all within two months..

And what if they had ran at Paumalū..

[Paumalū means “taken secretly.” This reference went back to the days of Kapu when a woman who once caught more octopus than was permitted there, had her legs bitten off by a shark.]

I don't think there's been a wave ridden like JOB's Wave of the Winter from last year yet. That was just a beautiful wave ridden absolutely perfectly.

The traditional O'Neill Wave of the Winter contest is for the North Shore only between Haleiwa and Sunset Beach:

There are separate regional editions:

The NW Region goes from Washington state to Point Conception, so I guess Mavericks is in there. No specific region for outer islands in Hawaii. In other words, Peahi/Jaws is not a part of the contest.

Surfer Magazine's Surfer Awards had categories like Best Barrel and Heavy Water for both men and women. Unfortunately, no more Surfer mag anymore; no more Surfer Awards anymore.
