The scale of China’s involvement in the war was massive. Chiang, for example, fielded four million troops at the Nationalist’s height, while China as a whole lost an estimated 14 million in the war. Had China folded, Japan’s capacity to fight the U.S. or even the Soviets would have been vastly amplified.

The lend-lease program started a year before PH. We were trading Britain supplies for bases months before that. It’s historically inaccurate to portray the US as neutral until PH.

China’s problem with Japan was hot before ww2. Their participation was mostly limited to running the Japanese out.
In the end Mao took over and set China’s course. Brutally. Loose/loose for the Chinese people.
Years of Japanese brutality followed by WW2 followed by a rough civil war followed by Mao's brutality followed by the poverty of the cultural revolution. They had several rough decades there in the mid 1900s.
