Going to need to blatantly rip off the compensator. What is your blank?

Yes vee. Flat to mellow single under the front foot, center drops to a double 6" in front of the canards, then rails come up to vee at the canards, vee gets deepest at the center of the fin cluster and then backs off again off the tail. Have done with and without the funky curved Jobson channel, next one is getting it though.
The compensator is just some G10 scrap from fin making and a long paint mixing stick epoxied on. Trying to simplify bottoms and get away from channels. They're a lot of extra work that I don't think provide enough benefit to warrant.

Does moving the fins inboard promote rail engagement? I've talked with some twinzer guys and the Jobson's I measured are/were at/close to 1 5/8"

I had thought about making some boxes that would allow you to adjust the rail distance, but never ended up trying to make them. It was a variable I was interested in testing, but never did.

@One-Off
they're at 1 5/8" off rail. But I'm at 6 3/4, not 8 3/4. I haven't had a problem spinning out since moving to this position, I did with fin position at 8 3/4". I've been working on reducing rail volume, in a more general perspective. It's a balance trying to get enough volume in board size I like to ride. The only negative "first" impression for the new board is a bit of weight, feels more like a cut lap poly, than a uber light corky eps/epoxy(not that there's anything wrong with either)

Is that a new basalt? Basalt bi-axial? Looks great.

Also looks like no overlap, maybe 1/2 spread and the slot is wider than 1-1/8". The canards look almost 2" off the rail. 2 and 8 degrees cant? Purple tint or the UV blocker (CE Ultra)?

Your builds look really nice. What do you do with your old ones?

Also looks like no overlap, maybe 1/2 spread and the slot is wider than 1-1/8". these were some canards I had laying around, going to make some to close the gap a little

The canards look almost 2" off the rail. The canard position is a product of the main position. The slot is in that 1 1/8 range

2 and 8 degrees cant? 4 and 9 degree

Purple tint or the UV blocker (CE Ultra)? Hot coat is a bit heavy, the sander is afraid of burn through (no, I didn't finish sand) Yes CE 2000

Your builds look really nice.:giggle: What do you do with your old ones? Try to sell them for cost of glassing

I have a question here in regards to the gap or slot - space between the canard and fin. I call it the Alley to avoid confusion with overlap.

What if the canard placement is correct for overlap, but the gap is wider than it should be? Trying to find what may be the most negative consequence with this.
Will it just behave more like a quad?

Fins are set at 4 and 9 respectively and the board overall looks incredible. These are the pictures I got and the Alley - or gap - between canard and fin looks a bit wide. I can see the FCS plug placement sits a bit wide, but again these are all pics.

Guy did an Amazing job and board is based off my old JC Flying Fish.

Any and all feedback appreciated.

Your alley looks like at least 1-1/2”. Not much you can do now. Why don’t you ride it and give us a report. My guess is that too far away you lose the dynamic interaction of the water flow. But you still get the effect of the separate fins.

Definitely going to surf it when I get it- sometime mid month? - I was just looking for advice/experiences here from anyone who has surfed one with a wider gap/alley between the fins.
Might be opening up a whole new window, not necessarily in the design, but for experimentation.

Thanks again.
This thread and it's participants are Super informative.

…So damn good that I ordered a quiver from him. He’s in the middle of shaping these for me as we speak. 6’8 and 7’6 twinzers and an 8’0 Singzer Demon in the center.
