I'm turning 30 next July(I know it's a long way off, but I want to start saving now, 30 is a big one) where should I go for my big 30 trip?
I've done Mexico and Central America to death, surfed the California coast and had a trip to Indo.
I'm also wanting to take my girlfreind. 2 to 4 weeks will be the desired trip depending on where and how much.

So far I have thought of :

Samoa(would be good warm barrels and the girlfriend would enjoy herself)
Bali(Great trip, really enjoyed myself before and really cheap once you get there, soo much for a couple to do)
Jeffrey's Bay (30th Jeffreys(my names Jeff) one of the best waves in the world, animal parks, but cold water(do I really want to spend my big 30 in cold water and weather)
Australia (could get expensive and 2 weeks is not long enough to see everything, but you also can get a stop-over in Fiji(more money))

What to do, what to do? I'm not rich, gonna be teaching school in a year, so I'll have to scrimp and save for this.
What do you guys think? I'm really leaning towards Bali, because it is a great trip and cheap once you get there, but the chickie is worried about safety.
I don't know, I'll drink more beer and think about it.

Tahiti. Fly from LAX for around $750 if you plan ahead, take a car on the main island to see the beachbreak and the end of the road (great drive), take the ferry to Moorea and stay at Moorea Camping (watch the sunset while cooking your own whole fish on the skillet, ride bikes around the island till your eye's hurt from the visual beauty (and sun), go to the outer islands on a package boat (or personal rental).

All this can be yours for the way I did the trip in 5 weeks for $1200 total cost (air included) or go up in cost from there to eat out a little and upgrade your trip.

Either way its a winner in my book, just respect the locals and bring alot of boards if you charge. <img src="/forum/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

Tahiti is looking like a good option (also girlfreind freindly). Please indulge me in a few questions.

Were there many waves around where you camped? How hard were they to access? Doesn't boat transfers to the breaks get cosly? How much was the boat trip? You caught your own fish? And where do I sign up?
Thanks
Jeff

Your partner shouldn't have any saftey concerns in Bali. What happened there two years ago(?) isn't something you can plan for. If she gets bored with the beach you can drop her off at a spa or leave her in Ubud.

I vote for tropical Bali. Very girl friendly as there are a lot of non-surfing options. Plus - a wide range of accommodations from $$$$$$$$$ to cheap-o.
