I snagged that 5'10" OB1 5-fin from OfferUp that someone posted here. Any fin recommendations? Planning to start as a thruster and see how it goes, but not opposed to setting up as a quad.

thanks. That puts a Pu at ~ 1,030. . I‘m a big fan but not that much #bringbackxtr
I think that Tomo’s designs are considerably superior than other shapers that charge $1,000 to $2,500 for a PU/Poly.

So, in considering how the cost of living, labor, and materials has increased domestically and globally, I think $1,030 for a custom hand finished Tomo is still a great deal.

My epoxy with carbon strips and tail patches was $895 USD and it’s a brand new model in my custom dims. :shaka:

Your stoke and general good vibes are much much appreciated here vs all the other grumps. But you got it for 895 + 200 shipping. My xtr tomo revo was 850 with no shipping. His boards are rad but he needs a non dark arts USA channel for non super fans

Thanks. I remember @jkb telling me to keep the stoke going as long as possible because it doesnt last forever (or something to that effect). I think he was right because even though I am still stoked as can be... it has come down a bit. lol. But yeah... if it's not fun, something is wrong.

As for board prices, I think that higher board prices are the norm now. Chemistry Surfboards in Oceanside charges $775.00 (without tax) for a PU/Poly and $875.00 for an EPS/Epoxy (without tax). That is without adding any channels or extra fin boxes or color.

An off the rack Pyzel Wildcat from the Oceanside show room is $895.00 (without tax) and that is a PU/Poly.

Xanadu's off the rack boards start at $775.00 (and that is a sale price) for a PU/Poly.

I think the days of $850.00 for a domestic Tomo are long gone. Now it's either used boards or pay a premium for a new one. Which would explain why the used board market is so popular right now.

Dumb question but do you pay sales tax or any sort of import charge on top of sticker to buy a board from Oz?

Tomo adds a tax when I purchased online. I'm guessing that is AUD tax? Not sure. But I dont pay anything else except for shipping costs. Which may include some sort of import charge within the fees? Im not sure though.

Hows the OB1 going for you? :)
I'm digging the wider tail for the softer reefs I mostly surf, compared to a 5'10" XTR Hydroshort Squash. It felt a little too sticky with the Dane Large thruster set. I threw in CF Tyler Warren honeycomb quad set just in time for the waves in my hood to completely die. I only have a few sets of quad fins. Waiting for the next run of swell over waist high...

@ReForest have you run the Tomo hatchets in your Revo? Any other noteworthy fins/fin combos you have tried?
Anyone else with Revo fin preferences feel free to chime in.
Yes sir! I did run the hatchets in my Revo but it felt a bit sticky (albeit, this was over a year ago). So i ended up sticking with the Endrofin fins in the front and Tomo hatchets in the rear. It was a wonderful combo!

But then found some upright split keel style quad fins and that felt perfect! I rode that setup for almost a year straight before moving onto the Vader.

There is a guy in AUS with a custom Revo in Tomo tech that runs the hatchets and love them in his Revo! Maybe I revisit them on the next swell.
