Jokes aside, i just took delivery of an 7’ roswell and 6’6” long line tkf. Kind of over short boards for the time being (injury, not enough water time etc)
Mine is a dedicated thruster with FCSII. My go to Mick Fanning larges weren’t a fave in my 5’8. I tried medium Kolohe’s, but ended up clicking with Filipe Toledo larges. I’m 6’ 170ish. I’ve never really clicked with quads. I do LOVE my Stamps Kai-zen twin. I’ll probably never run it without BMT’s.
What are the filippe equiv in futures?
I’ve rarely thrustered my flare but generally liked it. Mcahado blackstix were my small wav goto.
mine is a straight cut swallow. 5’8 dims stretchrd onto a 5’9. maybe a touch thinner too.
I thought mb larges quad from the 5fin was too much fin but im lighter than you.
I bet it could be fun with the kraken setback 2+1 set. too loose with regular 2+1
Yeah everyone is different. This quad set has treated me right from 215 lbs down to 180-185. I also like jjf mediums and 3.75 80/20’s on better sage boards. Damn quads are so finicky. But when you get them right …. Fuck
I wanted to love the jjf meds with flat fool qd2 3.75 but they always felt too small. swap for jjf trustee and the boar turned on.

I like the squash for that smooth pivot but there’s just something so addictive about the bite and release of that straight cut swallow. Damn my flare is all time. Goes to show what happens when you reach the sweet spot of a good custom shaper.

For sure. No matter what other board "trend" i'm on, my flare is just such a damn workhorse for SD conditions that it's still what I grab most of the time.
Been riding a mix of other boards a lot lately (Fuse, Twinsman, Driver 2.0) but got back on my trusty GX again today. Gd that is a GOOD so cal shortboard.
