Think I'm gonna throw in an order for a flare. I'm gonna get tim's take but wanted to ask you guys that have ridden his shapes a bunch. What dims you guys riding on your flares that are near my size?
Im 6 ft 190-195 lbs and surf North county SD

I’m a few lbs less than you but would go for 5’10 or 6’0, according to stock dims on his site.

just picked one up this a.m. 5'10 20.5 and 2.5 im 6'0 and 155 pounds.

+1 on this. Ordered my first board (GX) from Tim and gave him some dims on other boards I ride and details on my local. He got back with dims that turned out perfect.

Same thing with the second board I ordered too.

I’m 6’1 and ride a custom 5’9. I like the flare short but some folks here ride them at their height.

100% tell tim what you’re riding and thoughts riding them - tim is like that guy at the carnival who can guess your weight.

felt the shadow had more range to the flair and paddled better. maybe a wider thicker flair goes better in small stuff?

I had a 5-10 × 20 x 2.5
At the time I was surfing TT, GV, and RP once or twice a month .
It loved the higher tide mush as a quad ( am2 quad ) and surfed very HP going backside .
Frontside I could not surf as HP as I could on a GX but it caught mush better .

Any of the steeper waves at retodd secret sandbar it kinda felt stiff so I used my GX 90 perfect of the time

For NCSD mush I would stay 5-10 × 20 x 2.58 and get medium to tampered rails .
Pu with light glasing and no carbon.
You be stocked

i almost picked up a 5'10x20.5x2.58 sometime back at katin. felt like the perfect size for hp gravel boaring

edit: i'm 5'10 x 170 x oldasfook for reference

5’9x20x2.32, 29.5L.

main thing I notice compared to the gx is lack of nose flip. I liked quad rusty set with the small trailers in the small stuff.

tried it as a thruster a few times but didn’t “do it” for me front side. maybe similar thoughts to retodd.

I’m considering a 5’8 Flare at 29.7L which is more than my typical HPSB volume at 28.5L.

It’d be more of a step down and would be competing with my 5’9 CI NB2 which had been a favorite for going on 2 1/2 years which is 29.2L.

I’m mostly concerned with immediate get up and go for my local short interval dependent spot.

Thoughts? This would be my first Stamps.

I originally reached out to Tim for a HPSB, but the multi-week lack of waves at my walk to spot has got me thinking I don’t need a HPSB since I sold my 5’11 Fever due to lack of use and something that gets me excited in waist to HH seems like a better move.

Might feel more fishy than NB2 because of added tail area on flare

Fwiw I was picking up a board from XTR last week (that I’d ordered 5 months ago….thanks f’n Lost) and I asked them about Stamps. They said they are doing a very very small test run to check the logistics of getting boards back and forth. If it goes well for both sides, Stamps will be part of the XTR lineup. Fingers crossed
