LOL. You've got to be kidding me.

In a May 31 post on his blog shortly after George Floyd’s death, he wrote, “Protesting such brutality is right and necessary. It’s an utterly American response. But burning down communities and needless destruction is not. Violence that endangers lives is not.”

It amazes me how effective the right is using the "big lie" technique" in America.

Always addressing the content, you are a true truth seeker.
GOP cognitive dissonance at its finest:

-Joe ByeDon is too senile to effectively lead a country.

-Joe ByeDon is dangerous and will turn America into a socialist dictatorship within 2 weeks of taking office.

Thanks, I have definitely and intentionally tuned out both Trump and Biden the last few months. Despite that, my impression was the Trump was railing on about anarchists on Twitter roughly an hour after every meal and Biden hadn't addressed the mostly peaceful riots that much. That Reuters article cited:

a May 31 post on his blog
a speech in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on June 2
On July 28, Biden also condemned violent protests at a speech in Wilmington, Delaware,
On August 30, Joe Biden condemned violence at protests in Portland (here) by releasing a statement on his campaign website

If that's comprehensive (?) he's averaging one comment per month. I'm thinking that's a tad light given what's going on in our country but hey, maybe that polls better for him?

It's almost like you think the problem is the riots, not the police brutality.

I think the riots are hindering any meaningful reform on police brutality and also clouding a clear discussion on the scope of police brutality. GDaddy has posted the crime stats over and over again and they don't agree with terms like "Epidemic of police brutality" as my congressional rep put it recently.

I agree that we need to reform various police forces around the country. There were some early discussions in the house and senate around some reforms that seemed to make sense:

- increased funding for police training in all sorts of areas
- some sort of national database so douchebag cops can't hop from one department to another after abuses
- increased reporting and transparency requirements from police departments
- limiting the use of no knock warrants

The protesters seem more focused on

- defunding the Police - which might mean shifting budgets to offload certain responsibilities (like mental health calls etc.) to other departments OR just whacking police budgets OR in extreme cases abolishing the police
- banning chokeholds
- ending racism
- ending capitalism

It'd appear that the house and senate have punted for now since the election is coming and the mood on the streets isn't ripe for an adult discussion on meaningful reform.
