nyjah aint a contender.

my vote is for Yuto after that spitfire part but till be a close race. that hollywood 16 aint no joke and he just stomped that like it was 3 stair.
im not a fan of yuto. You saw what those 2 nerdy Asian bros did to rollerblading.

yuto makes it look too easy and therefore it looks boring

he also has zero personality

there’s a ton of newcomers tearing up the berrics that have me stoked

When do they announce the candidates?

santa cruzin was sayin earlier that the candidates have to be from the hi-speed pool so yuto would be a bit too corporate

Wow! Those 180 Switch feebs and 180 switch smiths look crazy! I think my favorite was the 50-50 rail grind off the top of the metro sign. :foreheadslap:

That was crazy!

Met Mike at the Cholo Bowl on the NS. I don’t think he knew Steve the owner but hechad a mutual friend , TA maybe, call Steve beforehand to ask if he could skate there. It was kinda the early days when a lot of heads wanted to skate there so we all had our guard up. Met a lot of cool people cause of that Bowl and a few dicks.

When Steve introduced me I thought he said Cantrell and Steve goes yeah he’s Dave Cantrell’s brother. I just go Really? Mike laughs and goes Cottrell. Yeah you’re a little light to be Daves brother. Haha.

Yeah Mike was super cool. I think Omar was riding for Quik at the time and he paid for a bbq and we had a session and Mike ripped. Power skater, sick tail blocks.

He’d come to the NS during the winter season and I’d see him if he skated the weekend evening sessions at Cholos.
Mike is a cool dude. You guys remind me of each other. He told me the exact same story. I think he mentioned that Steve Olson and Alex recently went to Hawaii. I think he said Steve was around when he met you? Not sure. lol. Bad memory.

Rob used to send me skate stuff. He’d send me pink Roskopps as a joke so I’d exchange them at the shop I worked. Haha.

Took him surfing at a top secret Eastside left and a couple other spots. Set him up on a date with a future late 80’s porn star. Kascha. She went by Allison back then.
somebody miss the Hawaiian shirt memo?

He is a fuking wizard. A have friends who are close with him so I see him skate a lot (cant say skate with , because I watch with my jaw gaping hahaha)
He skates like he is filming in a part when he is just fucking around in person. He is also a super nice guy, not cool guy at all.

Those guys were flown in for an autograph signing and to see if they wanted to rep Local Motion clothing. When they got to the shop they just helped themselves to the clothes on the rack. Rob rode for LoMo for a bit then went to Gotcha, Cab rode for HIC and Holmes rode for JimmyZ.

Saw Olson surfing Bowls and talked to him and introduced him to one of the boys, and told him who not to burn. When I paddled in Alex was pushing his gf in after she stepped on wana(sea urchin). Gave them my first aid kit. Steve came in right after and I called Jef Hartsel so they could link up. Jef had a new phone and Olson had the old number. Olson called me the following day to surf but I dawned it and was working already. The day they left was a decent south swell. Haha. Should’ve been here tomorrow.

I had insider info

Mark is sooo fucking good. Hard to comprehend some of the things he does. I know he is getting some sh!t for being a SOTY try hard but the dude is 100% skaterat. Thats why he produces so much footage.
SOTY finalists

its going to be Yuto

I watched Sucio's part last night and holy sh!t

He does all the tricks you imagined as a kid.

Yuto was powerful and precise but the sh!t Sucio was doing is like the culmination of his entire lifetime of skating type a sh!t

Agree.

That said I think that video has the largest quantity of the lowest handrails I've ever seen.

Where the hell did they find all those?
haha. Very true. Like skatepark hand rails.

And whats the deal with all this skate park footage from free skater now-adays. I remember it was frowned upon to film at a park. You had to actually go out and find spots and wax up ledges for hours to make then rideable and it was exciting to find a new spot to film or a new rail no one has ever hit. Seems totally different now adays.
