Critique this.
Well that surfs like a straight up longboar- not a midlength shitlength. Front third of the boar looks huge. His style is fine but wrong tool for the job. IMHO there’s about 2 ft. of extra boar length and nose width unnecessarily flapping around. Looks like he’s on a seesaw at some points of turns.

I’ve seen him ride much shorter /sleeker (still retro) craft in more critical waves with the same pleasingly clean casual style.
He’s still a dick tho.

I surfed a mid-length (7' 1" based on the CI mid with twin fins) for the first-time on Thursday and hated it. I'm not good enough to jump between boars with big swings in size without needing a a session or three to get my timing and balance right. Seems like once you start surfing one, you have to commit to it. I'd rather surf a fish/long fish and then my hybrid short boars when it gets decent.

Will shitlengths die?

mid twin gives hopes of tiger sheds to the 2+1 egg surfer. or, channels to go vroom vroom. maybe both.

what other variations are left - CA stubbys?

Cool thing about a performancey midlength is that you can surf it like a shortboard, lean into turns and carve on rail, plus other advantages like padding, wave catching, and being able to easily move around on the board. What I really love is the smooth pop-up and glide into waves.

Posted this board in the traction pad thread but since it's a mid length it can reside here too.
Interesting thing about this 7' DVS hydro hull fish is its rocker...plenty of it. I bought it because of its atypical rocker and foil/rails compared to Dick Van's usual flatter rockered and fuller foiled/railed fish he makes. Should fit into the curve of good waves and be a livelier ride. It's going to be a while before testing it out as I have a hernia op this Tuesday so time will tell how long I'm out of the water but we are headed into prime swell season so once I'm recovered should be waves to put it through its paces. Hopefully I'm all good by my 60th next month. Should have the beard grown to full hipster length by then. Top knot is covered.

Got the 7’4 & 6’8 Kookapinto Thin Twins back from lam yesterday. Corey shaped the blanks for me and I took them to my buddy’s shop to glass them. Will wax the pair after work today and give them a go tomorrow experimenting with my quiver of S-Wings and then see how AMKs go in them on Monday
