Karen PryorAnyone have any recommendations on a really good how to train a dog book?
Getting ready to start looking for a dog and planning on investing some serious time and effort into training this one.
You hunt him? Grouse in Sothern New England it looks like if I were guessing.
We dropped our dogs off at the kennel. The wife runs the socal weim rescue and has weims. Her husband has gwps. Saw about 10 gwps. Love their beards.Yep. He’s mainly a grouse/woodcock dog but well chase pheasant and eventually ducks too.

Mines a full on certified Drahthaar. genetically they’re pretty much the same a GWP but has gone through testing based on German standards from the original breed. We dropped our dogs off at the kennel. What a story!Driving on a dirt road in the middle of nowhere, trying to make it town before dark, when this little guy ran across my path. I thought it was a plastic bag blowing in the wind and I came very close to hitting it. At the last second I realized what it was and I think I made a noise as I pulled over a little ways down the road.
My lady hadnt seen it and she asked what was up. I paused, knowing what was about to happen. The little dude was hiding behind a rusted fender and came bounding out, squealing as my gf approached. Thankfully we didnt find a whole litter. Also thankfully we have had a house to stay in right now because he just pisses and shits wherever he likes and I cant imagine dealing with that in a tiny camper.
He was super skinny but otherwise seemingly healthy and hes been eating and holding down food. First couple days he was pretty upset and needy, whining a lot, but now he is becoming playful and his personality is coming out. Hes a total sweetheart.
I think we found a home for him but still working out the details. I dont want to keep him any longer because i know we will get attached. Our other dog is pretty grumpy about the whole situation.
Thanks bro I really appreciate it but the real heroes are the shelters staff members.
