4/3 60 degreesUsed the 4/3 colby chest zip first time today in ventura , windy. surfed 1 1/2 hrs, never cold. flexible.. only a couple dribbles down the neck at first. so far so good. felt like water around 60
new suit , had to try it out,,,, and, id rather be too warm than too cold. cool wind was blowing too.4/3 60 degrees
SD almost all wear hoods and bootiesnew suit , had to try it out,,,, and, id rather be too warm than too cold. cool wind was blowing too.
i would think most people wear 4/3 in 60 water , no? Well , i guess it may matter how slim you are?
btw, many were wearing booties, some hoods.

Never stop wetsuit-shaming, Yimmy. It's become endearingly quirky. Again, most poeple I know that wear hoods do it for their ears (instead of or in addition to plugs), not cold.
been wearing 2mil so far this Fall, and then pulled out 3/2 vissla u-zip so i wouldnt have to put on a wet one. Man, it felt like a 4/3. The fuzzy liner makes it feel a bit bulky. Wish the neoprene was yamamoto-equivalent quality but it's pretty good. Love the u-zip entry tho. Game changer for me (and my shoulders). Either zipperless or u-zip for me going forward.
Maybe comes off shaming but really just me thinking back grom and even young adult daze never wearing a 4/3 until I moved to SC and same with booties and surfed SLO area tons in youth but really comes down to discpline. I never understood how my wifes family could say they were cold in CR specially in SJ temps never dropped below 70 but mind is a strong thing and you can feel cold I try to use proper suit for me when really needed so for me a least that 4/3 feels warm when the temps are low 50z and air is in 60z.Never stop wetsuit-shaming, Yimmy. I agree with most or cheaper ones or the ones that say comp etc but even those the flexibility is so worth it and motivates you to move and get up off dat thang and catch a wave. I find this more true during windy sessions when lack of smoothie does make you colder but then again I have a 'bong furnace 4/3 warmest suit no smoothie yet its also not the most flexible "6/10". Compared to the suits I had during my youth all seem way more flexible but don't last as longi think 4/3 of today are less warm than in the past. i used to wear custom japanese 3mil zipperless no booties middle of winter central california. now, not so much...
Lols I was one of the only peoples not wearing a hood last weekend in Central Cal and I was surfing mid day and didn't need it. I like hoods when air is in 40's. People wear booties when it's 57 or under so why not protect your dome when the air is much colderI agree with most or cheaper ones or the ones that say comp etc but even those the flexibility is so worth it and motivates you to move and get up off dat thang and catch a wave. I wear hood over booties any day I still hate booties even at the rockies of spotsLols I was one of the only peoples not wearing a hood last weekend in Central Cal and I was surfing mid day and didn't need it. No still think its in the mind as long as you have good blood circulation and you train "climate control" your body to with stand continues to be same with me. I do not carry whole lot of extra weight but more stocky specially for size then skinny so have muscle over bone but still compared to fat not much insulation. I think its more to do with wearing less rubber longer period until I can no longer stay in water for a least a hour half then move up to warmer suit.also, you aren't colder as an older dude? Every single person I know in their mid 40's an up gets colder than they used to.
I do 3-5 minutes in a cold plunge (50 degree water) every morning. My tolerance for cold is better now at 54 years old than it’s ever been.also, you aren't colder as an older dude? Every single person I know in their mid 40's an up gets colder than they used to.
