Hi
I have had a full hip replacement on my right leg, which is my rear leg while surfing. I risk dislocating my hip if I tether to my right leg, it doesn't take a lot of lateral pulling force to pull it out. So my options are to stop surfing, try to relearn to surf with my left leg back but I think that won't work, or wear the tether on my arm. Do you have any advice?
You can put on foot with hip replacement unless you are surfing an aircraft carrier

my sweeper friend used a leash that wrapped around his waist. He looked like a Telly Tubby. He said the wipeouts were very bad because he would fall backward headfirst and then dragged like a sea anchor. It was hilarious to watch but he trashed the leash after a couple of sessions. Oh well.
Volume.... Front or Back??? A big SUP will drag you like Ahabs White Whale.

most of his volume is in the front.
you haven't lived until you watched your buddy, who happens to be a talkative wavehog, get pulled over the falls and down the face backwards on a double overhead wave, And then drag himself back out to do it a second time:ROFLMAO:

What about round your neck like a dog?

(Simile alert for the erbb loosers who cannot make a valid comparison).

Perhaps you can learn through autopraxism.

hope you're doing well..

WillieK passed last night
sad day in hawaii nei

And if you want to surf like Carlos
you have to do it in speedos with a waist leash

He's in kilauea
was part of the zuckerberg controversy there
hawaiians always fighting with each other over land

first time I saw him paddle past me in good sized hanalei I had to look twice
mean looking bearded guy on a standup in a speedo and waist leash
and no one dared laugh at him

The answer is a waist leash. Unlike some of the medically uninformed and unhelpful comments, you are right to be concerned about displacement from tethering to the replacement leg. A waist leash works well enough. Best of luck.

I guess you guys don't know why Jack O'Neil had a patch on his eye.
Nose leash.
Your board would shoot back at you like it was fired from a speargun.

Waist leash goes round your waist and you tether the regular foot leash to the wait leash. Not a nose leash. Regular foot leash tied to your waist instead of your leg because when it is tethered to a leg that is a recipient of a hip replacement there is a strong likelihood of pulling the hip from the socket, which is both dangerous when in the ocean and very very painful. So best not to do it.

No, I have always enjoyed uniformed, glib comments in response to serious questions both before and after my surgery. Nothing like someone needing some help and getting responses a 12 year old could have made to get you on your way of a day. Thank you for your contribution.

My fin gashed my skull. So much blood!

I got back on my board hoping it was just a scratch and the blood poured out on to my white board.

Time to go to urgent care!

You can also surf with a leash on your front leg

You just need to get used to it
