I suspect that the vast majority of those deaths are due to Chinese/Mexican Fentanyl either being used to cut heroin or to make counterfeit pharmaceutical opiates.

And maybe also the fact that pharmaceutical companies have made opioids highly accessible

they put pressure and incentives on doctors to prescribe them.

tons of people get hooked.

the meds get too expensive to people move on to H.

Use of opioids for non-cancer related and end-of-life chronic pain is partly what got us here in the first place. Opioids are not meant for long-term pain management.
