About as Mexican as a breakfast burrito.Aren't you Mexican?
Hal likes a good breakfast burrito. I don't know how you feel about that.About as Mexican as a breakfast burrito.
Have to go back to grandpa to get true 100% Mexican. Dad was born in Kansas in 1920 (still full Mex). Grandpa was a Mexican tailor by trade, in Topeka Kansas of all places. Even then, a good part of that half is Aztec. Supposedly Aztec chieftain heritage. First born were supposed to be handed down gold ingots representing the centuries of chieftain rulers. Never saw them and supposedly in Mexico somewhere locked away or in museum? Could be (and likely) fable.
Mom is pure upper mid-west German farmer heritage with her grandparents from the Fatherland (late 1800's).
So I'm about as hybrid American as they come. Born at the French Hospital in Chinatown LA, with a Hispanic last name and German blood farm girl mom. Met in downtown LA. Mom a social worker for LA, Dad a struggling artist. Poor mans Lucy and Desi Arnaz of the day. I crawled all over MacArthur Park as a baby/toddler. Both sides have/had their own Viva La Raza cultural upbringings. Both of the Greatest Generation surviving the Great Depression as kids/teens, and each doing their part in WWII (Dad POW in Japan after fall or Corregidor, look up that hell). God rest their brave and hardy souls.
I once talked to a student abut some aspect of WW2 and he knew nothing. Smart kid, took APUSH as a junior, so I asked him about how much time they spent on WW2, he said about 2 - 3 days max. I asked him WTF do you learn in that class and he unhesitatingly said, it's all about the revolution, slavery, the indian wars, and the Depression. I told him that WW2 was the most important thing that hapened to America in the last 100 years as it made us the richest and most powerful country since the Romans and he said, "oh."Ok. We all agree slavery was/is bad. Here's another question for you. Should slavery be emphasized in a curriculum about our country's history at the expense of positive accomplishments of our country? What balance do you strike? Can we add omitted facts like kidnapping in Europe to supply North American slaves? What about slavery practice by native tribes, which was brutal?
WW2, and he says the the revolution?......classic!I once talked to a student abut some aspect of WW2 and he knew nothing. I guess it all depends on what you emphasize.
Yep. Both of my grandfathers fought in WWII. Both were wounded. One spent time in prison camp. The public school system dishonors them by failing to teach about WWII and the sacrifices they made. That's the point of their historical emphasis: to dishonor men like my grandfathers and spend more time teaching hatred, covetousness, and lies to children in the form of CRT.I once talked to a student abut some aspect of WW2 and he knew nothing. The truth of the American Indian wars hasn't been taught in 50 years or more. Instead we victimize them in order to double down on savaging a generation of kids with unwarranted guilt.I once talked to a student abut some aspect of WW2 and he knew nothing. You're struggling right now, I get it. Self esteem issues are real and can cause emotional pain. Have you considered replacing one of your snacks with a fiber supplement. Try a dose of psyllium husk before bed instead of a bowl of ice cream. I recommend Konsyl as it is pure psyllium without flavoring or binders. For your first meal you could forgo the sugary cereal and just have some plain oatmeal and a couple of eggs. You'll see a healthy diet will do wonders.so immature
OK so you do identify with us White Devils. Excellent.About as Mexican as a breakfast burrito.

It's the end of the year and in my marxist indoctrination online video class I'm going to show my kids this strange foreign religious brainwash video as a prelude to having them create a thank you card for someone that has been especially kind or helpful during this strange, strange year-
ps PRCD- it includes chanting HA!
I think you're being dangerously naive and incurious about Chuautin's ethnic studies curriculum as it actually is, rather than how you teach it. You're dodging the issues here. Great video. If you want young men to truly respect Polynesian culture, build a Splinter outrigger canoe with them and teach them some celestial navigation. Maybe send them out the harbor on it one at a time. I don't think Chuautin is going to be much help to you teaching their culture. He seems fairly worthless - the type of guy picked last at kickball. His ethnic heritage seems mostly Conquistador too.ps PRCD- it includes chanting HA!
Whiteness and racism all wrapped up in one.His ethnic heritage seems mostly Conquistador too.
I'm not even considering it. I don't teach history and even if I did, it is not mandated so I probably wouldn't touch it. I doubt any history teachers will.I think you're being dangerously naive and incurious about Chuautin's ethnic studies curriculum as it actually is, rather than how you teach it. Build a canoe? Why not a catamaran? I'm in a public school. I normally do do a whole lesson on Polynesian voyaging. I start with Eddie Aikau. I always try to "hook" my students with something they can relate to. I tell them Eddie was a high school drop out. A couple of rebellious students will look up. Eventually I get to the story of Hokulea (and talk about catamarans, a Polynesian concept, and sailing records) and explain to them the basics of celestial navigation.Great video.
