I know mike D.. nice guy. He was there when we went in 2019

the ladies LOVE the beauty products and dryers/hair brushes etc. stacks of colorful mixed sized t shirts were a big hit (Luke at LB surf shop sold me like 20 for 5 bucks a pop- you may even have seen staff members wearing brightly colored “LB Surf” logo tees lol), and school supplies.. and some cava for the kitty
I was advised that since the kids wear uniforms at school, extra clothes weren't necessary for them. I know the Fijians DIG whatever new stuff you can give them (I gave a brand new Melin hat to a boatman who went above and beyond). But absolutely agree otherwise with Subway.

Oh we brought plenty of XXLs for the adults. They were more stocked than any thoughts of handing them off to kids. Half the staff were wearing their new shirts over their staff uniforms by the time the kava and singing were winding down lol

It never got much over HH for us, although there were some close to 8' face days. Here's about as good as we got it (on my CI 5'8" modified ModPod):

Two days after we left, when Strider (who was with us) stayed for the bump:

Mostly, I enjoyed taking pictures of the others surfing small stuff and bodysurfing with my handplane:

10-20. But like, not every item for every person. A back pack or twos worth of goodies…I think I just fit a bunch of stuff into my coffin bag

I filled up two shoe boxes. Seemed about right. Worked out to about $250 worth of CVS doo-dads.

For reference, Bob Hurley was there and had three shoe boxes full. We laughed that we had the same idea.

No testing on landing. No testing there at all. It's awesome now. Rules were changing daily when we left to when we arrived, etc. It's all easy now - no masks even. LOVED IT.

Edit: But yes on the vaccine card.

It will. The wave allows you to use a shorter board than you would in CA. Then again, are we talking Hawaiian 8-10' or California's 8-10'? Biggest board I've ever used in Fiji was a 6'8". You'll be golden! SO JEALOUS, bud.

Last bit of advice: Bring boards you already know. Don't experiment with something the brain trust of the erBB says is the next greatest thing. Use the boards you know so there's no need to learn while doing.

Yeah Scott is super nice, and super talented. Got a ton of pics looking way better than my actual surfing probably was in real life
