Any of you out there are surfing after hip replacement?

Can you get back to where you were?

Can you still ride a shortboard?

How long did it take to get back in the water?

Are you glad you did the surgery?

Thanks! I might be on my way to one late fall.

I haven't had hip surgery, but I know 2 guys who have. One had the surgery in his late 30's, the other in his late 40's/early 50's.

Both are surfing. Both are shortboarding. Both are ripping.

You can surf after hip surgery. Rely on your surgeon and your physical therapist on return to activities. Chances are you might have some limitations. Everyone is different there...100%, 90%, 80% return to normal?

100% recovery with no limitations. Slight loss of flexibility.

Torrey M has an artificial hip.

The Jaws contest was probably a pretty good test.

My surgeon told me he has put NHL players back on the ice with artificial hips. You get the right guy doing the surgery and you have the right profile, chances are good. I sucked up the pain for far too long. Wish I'd done it sooner.
