Hey what are you guys/gals doing for a nutritious, shake or juice? I was thinking something easy, that won't break the bank every morning, with the cool antioxidants, vitamins etc?

I've been drinking pretty much every morning for the last 3 years:
Spinach
sometimes Kale
Banana
Frozen Mango
Frozen Blueberries
ginger
cold water or coconut water
sometimes apple, frozen pineapple, other fruits, avocado.
substitute with whats in the fridge, but most always spinach and banana plus

Take it easy on the fruits, you can make it too sweet quickly with too much.
Used to put plain yogurt in it as well but I found it negates the spinach/iron.

Miss it badly when we travel and tough to go without for a day.

I know it's not a shake, but team chew food has some health advantages. Loving these sugar bombs in the morning!

ginger is big in my daily line-up this year. all teas (hot, iced, green, hibiscus, peach, raspberry) automatically get a big chunk of freshly smashed ginger added.

I was doing the Isagenix plant protein shakes but I found something similar cheaper. 1/3 of the price to be exact.

You can find a variety on amazon. I keep it simple. One scoop of that. Banana. Berries. Sometimes a banana and peanut butter.

If you are putting in a 2-3 hour session every day, suggest one before and one after. I find a post surf shake really helps me recover and I'm not fatigued the next morning surfing.

Hydration supplements also have really helped me. Especially on surf trips or stretches where I'm surfing alot.

did you cut out a meal and replace with this?
Yes.

I use the protein to suppress my appetite.

The way I would get lean (sub 10%) in the past is lift weights like crazy, do three shakes and eat a sensible meal at night.

Ideally now, I would do two shakes and dinner.

You kind of have to get used to it.

If I do two shakes a day I automatically eat less.

I have to slowly become less emotionally attached to the pleasure of eating.

I really like adding the ginger and berries and fiber because it's food.

I would only do this for a month or two.

I think it's really good for self discipline to get lean every once in a while.

You get a strong sense of mastery and self efficacy.

I haven't done lately.

I started reading your first line because I hadn't scrolled down yet, thought it was booze related, I was impressed. Then saw the list.

You gotta stay with the greens, Carrots, apples strawberries etc are full of sugar.
Sugar is not your enemy in the morning. Of course it varies by person, but morning is the time for berries and fruits. Then activity, then lunch...
I eat a lot of tacos.

Strawberries and carrots are relatively low in sugar. The volume needed to make a dent in your calorie count or blood sugar is pretty high.

As for tropical fruits, yes, I agree that the sugar can get quite high in a smoothie.
