Had no idea this was a thing. Randomly came across this live webcam of some ski resort in finland. At the end of the season they push snow into piles and cover it with some kind of insulating blanket. In a month or so they'll spread it out and open a few runs earlier than if they were relying on just natural or man made snow. Never heard of this and thought it was pretty cool. Is this done at any ski resorts in the US? Haven't been to one in probably 25 years.

The live webcam pans between the mountain side and the town, but you can see the snow piles if you give it a few secs.

I don't think it gets much hotter than about 70 degrees in the summer there.

They don't do this, but you'd think they made snow out of powdered gold with the prices they charge for lift tickets. > $200 for a walk up is typical.

All US ski slopes went out of business several years back when global warming eliminated snowfall.
At least that is what "THE SCIENCE" told us was going to happen.

you can get a pass right now for 700-1k, was looking at the ikon and epic passes for next season. haven't ridden much in the past few years but these might make it worth it. seems like they offer access to a bunch of different resorts all over the place. you could purchase both for the price of 9 walk up lift tickets :monkey:
