You don't have to. Plenty waves closer to Huatulco. 7 trips now and not once did I surf Barra. Stay at a hotel in Huatulco and hire my guide. Empty early. Surf one spot he has access to and its rare for anyone else to be there. And if they do show up, its late morning. Control your trip. Go when you want. Leave when you want. If your significant other is a non surfer, let her sleep in and you sneak out for a morning session and come back for breakfast and drinking by the pool. I have friends that go to Pascuales late Oct. They always score. More manageable.

Awesome, just hoping its not too big since I haven't surfed waves of consequence in a while. I would like some size but don't want to be in hellman size waves. Taking notes on your trip, sounds ideal. Am stuck with this group for cost reasons for now but still pumped.

That’s where the famous Ola Verde (green wave) is. Closed out beach break. South of Manzanillo so not all that close to Pasquales. Not a destination for surf.

If you have a car getting over to Pascuales won't be a big deal. If you have to bus it, I expect you'll hop a school bus or similar in Cuyutlan, take that to Armeria, take a bus to Tecoman, then take the bus out to Pascuales. Some taxis around but that round trip could be $10-15 one way.

If you are busing/taxiing it, I'd bring a towel and dry clothes, and plan on eating at one of the restaurants fronting Pascuales post-surf and ask them to hold onto your sh!t while you surf. The first hotel where the road meets the beach, Real Pascuales (Edgar's) has a restaurant adjoining and a shower so you can wash off.

The group wanted to fly into Guadalajara and rent a car and drive to that area.
the flight is under 300.

I was like fook that id rather pay 600 and fly right into Manzanillo. Less risk of extortion. Am i being paranoid?

I've heard mixed reviews for at least the SC part. Once said packed, other two said not bad at all. I think it depends on swell. If it's macking with good winds it's gonna be packed.

I need to do GBG's trip. Just locked into financial hell right now.

I've learned that early and late season on not so hyped swells are best. My mid to late October trips are always my best. If you do go to SC and are lucky to get Chipehua uncrowded, you will be amazed. Besides my first trip in 2012, it is 100 guys out. I'm going back in Oct but staying in Huatulco and surfing with my guide.

Holiday inn is hard to beat especially if you are solo. Walk to a few restaurants. Bar. Small pool. Quinta bella if you are bringing a female. Thats my favorite hands down. Great restaurants on site and poolside service.
