Compare these two images of the Alps seen from Venice, Italy. The Alps are about 40 miles away. I saw it a few times like the first photo. It would have to be really clear and you'd have to have a really goo telephoto but I've seen many versions of the second photo.

Redondo has a hill. Knob Hill. Highest point in South Bay. The trees at the high point in the photo would be Wilderness Park. Triangulate it on a map. Haggs to Burn Out. No trickery, just someone has a good lens on a really clear day. Raining hard again here.
Click on the blue down arrow drop down on the left & go to maps and play with the location of the shot...
I located it as a guess at the parking lot here...
