I haven't done any exercise since Monday's surf (which was a good one). I keep being tempted. Today I went to the beach but the surf sucked. Was thinking about doing my barbell but it still smells like smoke. Probably take a pass...

...maybe some bodyweight stuff inside today.

Anybody else abstaining because of smoke?

When smoke from regional bushfires has clouded the suburbs of Melbourne (and when I used to live there), I have worn a surgical mask when walking outside. I've also worn one while cycling during dusty conditions from the unsealed roads where I currently live. I don't know how comfortable/effective such a mask would be for the more intense aerobic running you do. Should be good for some outdoor weight training though. Wearing of masks to counter the traffic pollution is quite a common sight in Asian cities such as Bangkok.

I don't watch tv much so get most of my news through internet radio into my headphones, so of course I've been hearing about the LA fires. For the first time I saw some aerial video of the aftermath yesterday - I was shocked, I didn't realise it was so bad - huge areas of housing estate looked like a nuclear bomb had gone off :(

I gave it (exercising out doors) a pass. The fire is shockingly bad.

Purple Air does a decent job of tracking air quality and it’s mapped out so you can see specific zones. Worth a look if you’re seeking a “cleaner” zone to exercise.

It was a little smoky at county line today though too crappy to surf.
Surfing has not been a temptation these past few days. The morning the fire started I had gone to check the (crappy) surf when I saw the smoke on the mountain. Running was/is out of the question but still did my barbell routine yesterday.

Been waking up with a slight headache every morning, not sure if it is smoke related. There has been a layer of ash over everything, car, house, garden.

Going for a run now while air quality is good before the Santa Anas kick in again tomorrow.

Never seen a coyote on the beach before. I guess they don’t like the smoke either.
