Anyone try or feel up a File Fifty? It's Kanoa's new model which came out in October. Interestingly, my buddy saw him at Coxos week before last and he had five JS' with him.

Update to my comments below.

. It paddled into this wave with significant ease compared to my 6'2 i72 but gave me the ability to generate linear speed into the slopey section but my technique from a shortboard did not have to be significantly changed. Allowed for the best carves and fin break turn/slash that I could do on these waves on any board. It was wonderful.
Good description of what I was trying to describe in another thread. I hated the idea of riding one bc it would mean I’m old but discovered in certain conditions (big and slopey for me) you can rip harder on a mid than any HP board.

Played around with the cheatcode fins a bit but always come back to the h4 quads. It feels good with various thruster sets but it gives up too much drive and hold for me. Surf has been pumping so I havent ridden it much on this trip but I took it out on a head high or so day and it was a lot of fun.

Anyone ever trip out on Marco's success mid-late career? I remember getting them in college in the 00's from Bunker surf shop in PB and thinking they were rad but almost too loose.

What if it was Boysen, Plus One, Ezera, or the dozen or so other local San Diego shapers that had their die hard fans but never rose out of the local shaper realm.?
Not to derail things too much but yeah, I've thought about that.
Luck, skill, and determination.

Don't know if Steve Boysen is still shaping. A buddy was running his front of house during his best years. He had that Cash label too I think.
I have no idea what the guys at Plus One are doing now. Probably still making boards for the OB/Cliffs guys.
Ezera/Dave Pearson sold it all and moved to Nica.
His son is currently the Nicaragua National Champion and has a little spot he runs and does tours from.

Boysen is still shaping. I know a couple of guys who get boards from him. Really nice looking sticks.

I believe Plus one still is, just different location and smaller scale production I believe.
