Wrong.

Again.

Better see what Luke says.

“You might have to make some tactical retreats in order to win the long war, but never quit on your strategic vision. Never quit on getting to the ultimate place where you want to go.” — Jocko Willink
Category error.

This is not war but the magistrate bearing the sword, though there are some concepts that are similar to war when a non-state militia such as Antifa becomes entrenched and the magistrate has failed to deal with it. Hobbes' entire nation-state invention hinges on the state maintaining a monopoly on violence.

So it's not a category error?
Policing is not the same as war, though there are some overlapping concepts. Jocko Wilink is a gunslinger, not a cop. His knowledge applies to warfare. Some of it overlaps into policing but much doesn't. Even where the areas overlap, I don't think we should apply many of his lessons since his type of thinking has failed in the arenas it was tried. To be blunt: we didn't win in Iraq and Afghanistan. We did not understand the transformation of war.

So there is never a time when LEOs should retreat from a mob?

I would say "No," unless it's a feint to lure them into a killsack. A mob can quickly turn into a riot, which is what happened in '92 in LA. The magistrate has to maintain a monopoly on violence except when impossible such as cases of self defense. That said, I'm not a cop. Paging @GDaddy ...

there is an argument that the riots are de facto state violence because the state selectively allows them to happen (while preventing violence from other factions)

"The man accused of fatally shooting a local photographer at Jefferson Square Saturday night had been arrested twice before for rioting related charges.

WAVE 3 News has learned the suspect’s name is Steven Nelson Lopez...

Lopez, according to the report, was seen shooting a firearm into a large crowd of people at the park. The gunfire struck the victim, later revealed by the coroner as Tyler Gerth...

While the suspect shot into the crowd, other bystanders returned fire to protect their life and the lives of others. Lopez sustained a non-serious injury from a gunshot wound to the leg during the crossfire.

Lopez was taken into custody on scene without further incident and transported to the hospital.

WAVE 3 News Troubleshooters found Lopez had been arrested twice, back to back, in the last two weeks.

On June 17th Lopez was arrested for inciting a riot, disorderly conduct, harassment and buying/possessing drug paraphernalia. Just two days later, records show Lopez was arrested yet again on June 19th. Those charges included unlawful assembly and disorderly conduct.

Looks like Amazon is sitting down to the banquet of consequences of the Great Awokening they've been promoting.

Obviously this is bad for all of us since Amazon was allowed to grow into a direct sales monopoly on the government's dime putting all the mom and pop stores out of business as WalMart did before them. Now that hijackers are on the road and we can't go to the store in the way we once could, it will be hard to get goods. All the costs of the hijackings will be passed along to the consumer.

That lady was crazy for engaging with the thiefs.

I would have distanced myself from the threat and called law enforcement.

I like situations like that because they force me to be present in the moment.

There is the orienting response where I ask myself what I need to do, and then it's about execution of that decision.

Karen thinks she's the boss. And she was before June, but now we're reverting to a state of nature. 7

An increase in the influence of women in public life has often been associated with national decline. The later Romans complained that, although Rome ruled the world, women ruled Rome. In the tenth century, a similar tendency was observable in the Arab Empire, the women demanding admission to the professions hitherto monopolised by men. ‘What,’ wrote the contemporary historian, Ibn Bessam, ‘have the professions of clerk, tax-collector or preacher to do with women? These occupations have always been limited to men alone.’ Many women practised law, while others obtained posts as university professors. There was an agitation for the appointment of female judges, which, however, does not appear to have succeeded.

Soon after this period, government and public order collapsed, and foreign invaders overran the country. The resulting increase in confusion and violence made it unsafe for women to move unescorted in the streets, with the result that this feminist movement collapsed. The disorders following the military takeover in 861, and the loss of the empire, had played havoc with the economy. At such a moment, it might have been expected that everyone would redouble their efforts to save the country from bankruptcy, but nothing of the kind occurred. Instead, at this moment of declining trade and financial stringency, the people of Baghdad introduced a five-day week.
