I wasn’t that into surfing the HA stab, and found the Kai was actually really good with the 210.

Like everyone else I’ve been thinking about short fuses, so I moved the old Maliko stab forward.

The conditions were a bit fluffy but I think this will be the direction I go in from now on.

+pumps easier
+turns tighter so I can get a bit closer to the dream of shredding like Mizo

I found I need to be a bit more relaxed in trim because it’s a lot more responsive in pitch, but I got used to it.5256C3D8-7D89-4E24-8D90-E9EFF805D4CE.jpeg21248A2D-3538-4808-A84F-DF6344B79BC6.jpeg0AE789CA-9818-4A89-8266-02B40C5C7CBE.jpeg

Hey frothers,

I ended up thinning out the the shortbus stab above for more speed, and I thought I’d gone too far but now I really like it.

I wouldn’t go back to a longer fuse now, this feels too good.

I’ve picked up a handkite and I’ll need some more pull and stability from my stab to haul up a sup. I made this by bagging carbon around the spigot on my old fuse and then bagging on the last 18” blade I made. This is the first time I’ve done the mount from scratch so I’m pretty stoked. This will lead to whole main wings etc.

It’s 18” in span, mayyybe 3/16” thick. So. Farking. Fast.

I didn’t like it on the longer setup but it was a little crude so maybe draggy...this time though...I was surfing with a mate who would be at least 15kg lighter than me on a stock Iwa/Kai 24” setup. A lot of wing for him to be fair. We took a couple of party waves from the wide edges of the peak and crossed paths a couple of times. He was flat out just trying to get down the lump and I was highlining past him sooo much faster it was ridiculous.

It’s much easier to turn this blade with the short fuse too.

Stoked!

Yep just the female without a cap on the end. This one was only 8-10 layers of 6oz....

Gonna start this week, wing is made of G10, low profile and flat on the bottom. Goal is to make a hi aspect pump wing by increasing the wingspan, turn down the tips, add a bit of thickness to the profile and to make this fit my Naish fuse. Would love some input to make this as easy and successful as possible.

Oh that’s a sick one Grendel!

What’s the span now, and what will you stretch it out to?

28.5" to 33/34" hopefully

not sure whether to clip the main wing flat on the edges to turn down the tips or cut the fins.

Hard choice, fwiw the GL is pretty much flat. Axis has some down curve though...

So I’m leaning toward flar for my next build... I’m sure they’ll both go though

Clammy what is the angle of attack of the GL wing? This wing I’m adding to is nearly zero.

Hey man

I took a couple of pics as it’s hard to quantify on a wing that isn’t flat on the bottom. Basically the bottom trailing edge sits about a quarter way up the fuse.

You should be fine to eyeball it, if your stab is adjustable you can fine tune it with that.24397FD5-FB4D-41D4-9C31-A0E141A9ABB4.jpeg12D43D66-17C5-4379-AD45-4E47B8C96716.jpeg

My wings came!

1600mm span, 180mm chord at root, 160mm at tip @ 900mm.

15mm thick, half the 210’s. It will beef up a little with all the carbon, but exactly what I was after.

I think I’ll make it 1000mm and I can cut later if I want. It won’t have the forward sweep, equal taper front and back.

As a comparison, the 210chord is 187mm at root, the Axis 1000 is listed at 160mm.

My new downwind wing I’m thinking.

I got to fondle the GL wings the other day, super nice construction.
