Lots of turnover this past year as I’ve finally gotten rid of baors I didn’t ride much or were too short for me to paddle around anymore. Here’s the latest additions from 22-23. Stocked.

Quiver related story.

Most of my quiver is stored in a shed I built on the north side of my house right behind our bedroom, The other night I could hear the sound of a rat chewing the wood of my shed, causing the corrugated steel to vibrate and make an annoying sound as we were trying to sleep. Next day after work I grabbed a shovel and my 2 trusty mutts and went around to the side yard, which is overgrown and out of control because my garderner has been on injured reserve (me). I opened the shed and said get the rat, and the dogs signalled that they had the scent of varmit and were excited, so I slowly pulled out one board at a time, 6'0 Puha Bros thruster, 6' 2 Puha Bros thruster, 5'8 Kenson Channel bottom Rocket fish, 5'8 Tomo V4, now there was room for the dogs to get in the right half of the shed and they are freaking out, so I grabbed my new 6'0 Kenson Keel Fish, 5'10 Kenson Twinzer, and 6' 2 Kenson Thruster from the left side, now the dogs are going nuts and the only board left is an old 90s Rusty 7'2 pintail with glassed in fins and its in an old cloth board bag and my old Bitch Ruby is tearing the bag at the bottom where there is an opening and evidence of rat chewing, then I heard the squeeking sound of panicked little rats and all of a sudden baby rats started running out of the hole, between me smashing them with the shovel and my two dogs attacking them it was a freaking massacre full on carnage, so gnarly, the mama rat was nowhere to be found but her brood are buried in a hole next to the shed. The Rusty was o.k. no damage.

Do you prefer round or square head shovel for rat smashing? Dims?

San Buena Ventura
I chatted him up at the Boardroom show. I felt bad because I realized he was eating a pretty big sandwich when I walked up. He didn’t speak with his mouth full, so that sealed the deal for me.

In all serious, he was quite friendly, informative, and generous with his time. He even put the sandwich down while he answered my questions. His response when I apologized for interrupting his lunch was along the lines of, “happy to chat, that’s why I’m here, this stuff is fun to talk about” etc…
I met Ryan many years ago when he was first starting out as an amateur shaper. He brought a couple of his boards to the Fish Frye in Oceanside and was frothing to talk to the shapers that were there. He was a super nice kid and was soaking in all the info he could, like a giant sea sponge. Also met Bob Mitsven, G.Griffin and Sunny Garcia that day. Anyway, it's cool to see how much Ryan has progressed over the years and has built quite a following outside of the S.B. area. I see his boards here in Ventura nearly every day now. 1684514028296.gif

Assuming or not you have a clue what a rat or other fluffy small creature looks like, you destroyed them because they... nibbled your sh!t which disturbed you while asleep. You get a gold star erbb medal for setting your dogs on tiny entrepreneurs of the natural world.

when the tiny entreprenurs of the natural world are vermin, I don't feel like cuddling the fluffy little guys. If they aren't in my house, garage, or shed, its live and let live, but once they cross that boundary, its live and let die.

Okay, but if one day you decide you don't want to kill them you can get traps that catch them alive so you can release them in your neighbours shed.

Weak ass quiver shot - I would've preferred to lay them out cool-guy-style on our grass with my fins and hand-planes and such - but I just cleaned the garage (one armed, mind you!) and had to take a few photos... doesn't include close up photos of our logs, soft-tops, and the wifey's boards:

The Whole Gang (Look at the top left and you'll see the noses of my guns and semi-guns):

A Garage View.jpg

My Shortboards:

B Short Boards.jpg

Ignore the Naish wing-foil board.

1. Tomo V-4: 5'9" x 19" x 2-3/8" XTR - Futures. Old faithful, but she's getting really beaten down by life.
2. Tomo Ob-1: 5'9" x 19-1/4" x 2-1/2" PUPE - Futures. Never used. Managed to destroy my arm within days of getting it. It will be used once I'm able!
3. CI 6-Channel ModPod: 5'9" x 19" x 2-3/8" Varial - Griffin fins. Squash tail. LOVE this board. Part 1 of a 2 board travel quiver.
4. CI 6-Channel ModPod step-up: 6'1" x 19" x 2-7/16" Varial - Griffin fins. Round pin. LOVE this board. Part 2 of 2 for travel.
5. Hydrodynamica/Tomo GMM2: 5'7" x 19" x 2-1/2" XTR - Futures. My bar of soap. Incredibly fun board for all crappy conditions.

My Guns & Semi-guns:

C Guns.jpg

1. Back row:
A. 10'2" x wide x thick BARK glass on thruster gun. Used at Mavs. Love it. A cherished/prize possession.
B. 9'0" x 20 x 2-7/8" Dave Johnson glass on thruster gun. Used at the J, Todos and the Bay. Older board that's been abused but keeps on ticking. Dave made it fore me after a session at T's when I was undergunned on my 8'0".

2. Front row - all Danny Hess boards
A. 8'8" x wide x thick quad California gun: Futures. My other unused board. Got it just after winter season and never had a good swell to ride it on, then trashed my arm. I will use it! T's awaits.
B. 7'2" x 19" x 2-5/8" Pavel/Hess Bonzer California gun: All glassed on fins, even the center. Shaped by Pavel, framed by Danny Hess, Glassed by Moonlight. It's a work of art and I use it whenever I can. I love this board. Solid and reliable. Had it for years and won't be giving it up.
C. 6'7" x 18-1/2" x 2-1/2" foiled out quad step-up: Futures. This board flies! It's heavier than most, but solid and strong and works well. Despite its size, it rides like a shorter board. Loved it at some giant point breaks around here.

Not discussed although pictured:
Wifey's CI Mid (6'10"), her Torq mid-length (6'8"), our Longboards (my 9'4" Wayne Rich single fin & her 9'0" Wayne Rich 2+1), the black 8'0" CatchSurf which we haven't used yet, and the 8'0" Wavestorm.

Also not discussed, although seen in the pictures: Our insane leash quiver. Why isn't there a thread on leash quivers yet?

Not pictured: My Brownfish and Danny Hess hand planes & DaFins.
