After picking up several CL boards the last couple years to try new designs/shapers, I've managed to amass an excessive number of boards. I've got a lot of overlap, and even some duplicates of the same shape with minor variations... the garage is overflowing, the wife is annoyed. I've become a board hoarder without realizing it, I don't ride most of them often enough, and we just don't have the space for many boards. I'm well into double figures now, but I think I should get it down to 7 or 8... including step-up, TK fish, minisim, and log.
I'm wondering how many boards most of you guys have for SoCal waves? Enough for different conditions and some variation, but not too many to surf them or annoy the wife/gf. :shaka:

I voted 4, but really it's 5 because I keep a back up to my DD:

Groveler
DD + Backup DD
Shortboard
Step up

Thinking of adding a bigger board this winter too.

I still have a bunch of my old boards that basically don't get surfed and I should probably get rid of but essentially all I surf is:

GMM2 or Banjo
GX
Ghost

I voted 10+, having never been in Socal, nor feel that anyone really needs that many boards.

I just like to watch the world burn.

Fark, definitely have more than I "need". I like trying everything and seeing
what sticks. Granted, I probably wasted many sessions this summer trying new toys that I kinda knew weren't
for me, but didn't want to give up on, when I knew I would have had fun on the trusty nuggets.
I have boards from 5'8" to 9"5", with all but two logs being between 5'8" and 6'7". I'm 6'3", 210 currently.

I think everyone goes through phases. Some weeks I ride a different board everyday, then just ride a single board for a month... I'd vote for clearing the boards and keeping 3-4 quality boards total. 1 or 2 grovelers, 1 or 2 daily drivers and 1 step up.

I've been in the "less is more" phase and rather than decide on 1 out of 5 potential boards to ride, just grab my best board for the day.

99.5% of the time for me, it's either a groveler or filled out short board...

I have around 30 boards.

I surf all of them at least once a year (although the last 4 months I’ve been using only 1)

I have 2 customs that I picked up in February that I haven’t even waxed yet.

I live in a town that rarely gets surf.

I have a serious problem and should seek counseling.

5'4 stubby wide squash groveler
5'6 quad fish
5'9 shorter-wider-thicker DD thruster
6'0 round pin tail

90% of the time I could be riding the fish or the DD

have a wall rack mounted in the garage with spots for only 4 boards, so I'd like to think that keeps me accountable
that being said, currently waiting on a custom so one of those may be relegated to being stored in a board bag soon

Duffy- It sounded like you said thirty boards! o_O
Pretty amazed to see almost half of you have 10+ in your quiver. Glad to know I'm not the only one with a problem. :shaka:
There's 4-5 boards I know I won't ride more than a few days a year, but still wouldn't want to get rid of them as they're fun on those days (midlength, miniSim, twin keel fish, etc.). So that leaves only 5-6 boards that I would actually ride often... and I'm already up to 10! Gonna be tough to cull.
