If you watch the latest SITD you can see Pyzel riding a MP in chest high surf, it works just fine. I think it'll work most days you'd take the ghost out, it's just a bit less HP feeling. I have a 6'2 Ghost and a 6'7 MP. If there's a lot of water moving, I'm wearing a lot of rubber or I'm feeling lazy I'll go MP.
Agreed.
I don't think the MP need to be over thinked (overthunk? :) )

I posted this earlier In the thread but I found this description on the pyzel au IG to be accurate, and the comment further elaborates.

"medium wave board for a wider range of surfers" appeals to me hahah

New York and some Jersey. The more chunky LI beach breaks rather than reefs out east. The tail looks really narrow to me but he swears by it. Also took it down to baja during the big swells around New Years. Surfed sizeable Cerritos (10-12') and some other places around there with him and he was loving the board.

where on EC? (roughly)

@money4coffeeman ,please forgive if I sounded like a bot ,I'm just looking for a go.to.board for fall / hurricane season here on east coast ,4 ft and up ,medium size waves semi hollow / hollow ,can be heavier and fast and pyzels description sounds like a great board for an old guy surfing those types of waves ...and you sound like the perfect person to ask that's all ..

Yeah as discussed above, I think it would be a good choice for what you're describing!

bump, anybody?
I did a short report on page 4.....I only ride it maybe 5-10 times a year, but it never disappoints. I barely ever ride proper scary waves but when it's well overhead and I'm having difficulties fighting the current and catching waves on the ghost it's always there for me. Way prefer it as a quad whilst I ride the ghost as thruster exclusively.

yes! saw that mate!

where have you ridden it for an idea of the waves/conditions you've had on it?

i'm looking to depart from higher volumed mids in bigger(not big) waves over winter and want something that still has pretty rapey volume and a ghost would be blown out thickness wise for my weight to get the volume ratio i wanted,

MP looks ideal in that respect but the gunny tail is causing me to hesitate with regards to manoeuvrability.

Aren't you the guy based in the UK with a kiddo that rips or am I mixing things up? If you are, I've ridden the MP in waves that resemble Porthleven, that point further north where a lot of he reubyn ash videos are coming from and even stuff like Fistral beach when it's head high plus. As a quad, it's plenty manoueverable, as long as you're travelling at a bit of speed.

wow talk about a personalised overview! thanks claw!!
yes thats pretty much the kind of winter waves i'd want it for, mainly the shifty beach breaks and a few reefs that aren't perfect where an earlier entry is always better for an older(ish) guy.

It works. I've tried it.
Kinda weird replying to my own (old) reply here but along this line, some fun sessions on the mini padillac with those rearward set NVS convertable Kraken twins and a trailer has me sheepishly wanting to ask @Pyzelsurfboards what you thought about a custom dedicated twin fin Mini padillac? Fin boxes set back like in the wildcat or crisis twin position, and some Bobcat twins in it...??
I think it could be drivey, loose(ish) and fun even in decent sized surf.
Rocker not appropriate for this crazy talk or
..... she go??? ;)
Thanks!

I have had friends ride those boards with twin fins in them, but not with the proper fin placement. I do think that it could be a reasonable option to try out with better placement and perhaps some adjustment to the tail rocker (lower). I have often wished that we could put both quad AND twin set-ups in one board, but the boxes would overlap too much to really make it work.

Dammit, I wish you had said no way, forget it, so I could..forget it ;)
Just kidding, thanks for chiming in on this.
That may be my next custom order
