Anyone get it? How did you treat it? Did you need surgery?

I've got it. Saw a local ophthalmologist before Christmas and treated it with steroid eye drops for a week but it didn't get any better. It doesn't bother me too much but has been irritating the last couple of days. Eye doesn't look pretty but it's not extended into the pupil yet. I need to find a specialist in SD area that treats this and has experience. Any ideas?

Between chasing fish all summer/fall , surfing and playing golf I think I fried my eyes.

I had some growth that hadn’t yet extended into my cornea. I had it cut out. Recovery sucked but it worked and I’m happy with the result.

I get them all the time after long sessions during the summer. Self limiting and goes away on its own after a few days. Sunglass when out of water and sometimes a hat for afternoon sesh helps.

Apparently mine is just pinguecula because it has not impacted the iris. I've asked my doctor and she says I'm good. It gets irritated with extra sun/salt/sand exposure.

Ive had one cut out 20 years ago and so far it hasnt returned, but the other eye has one thats just starting to get to the point of bothering me. The one I had cut off was starting to affect my vision and when cut out, was the size of a quarter. Three stitches in the eyeball wasnt so rad, but after a lifetime surfing, its one of the the things we have to deal with. Polarized sunglasses help. My brother had two and never surfed a day in his life. Its from reflective light while surfing, driving, snowboarding, playing tennis etc... anyone can get them. Wear your polarized sunnies and get that sucker cut out.

My left is onto my iris. My right isn't (pingueculum). I noticed them at 16. Started wearing sunglasses whenever it's sunny and now surf w/ contacts. Hasn't gotten worse in decades (45 now). Heard that scraping is only temp b/c it can grow back, but it sounds like you guys have had success w/ it. Good to know. I'll worry about it when it starts to cover my pupils and blocks my vision.

I had one removed like 8 years ago. Hadn’t come back. Keeping my fingers crossed. I now wear sunglasses religiously.
