Going with family and was wondering if it's worth brining a couple of boards. I know it's swell dependent but just seeing if it's worth the hassle or if I should just look to rent. If I rent, anyone know of any good places?

Surfing is definitely not a priority but I can probably get out most days if I want to.

Depends on how much you really factor into riding your own boards. If you just are there to casually get a few rides in, then I would rent. If you are flying Hawaiian Airlines the costs for boards is ridiculous, and there is a 50/50 chance they show up damaged. Thank you sir. Right now the cost of renting a good board for a week is just over board fees if I take my own so that's something to consider.

Pack a pair of flippers. Good bodysurfing on that side of Paradise. Good time of year to get an early south or score fun wind swell by the fancy hotel.

There are fun waves all over the south shore. Looks like southern hemi is starting to turn on. Any little S swell should be surfable. Check out Shipwrecks and Centers or head west.

I think if you fly American / delta or united just the cost of a regular bag fee, like $30 each way.
may be cheaper to bring one

Unless you show up with your boards dinged and have to pay to have them repaired there... 50/50 that is the result on Hawaiian Airlines.
