Soouthern NSW in July - worth it for a surf-focused trip?

Doesn't look all that consistent.

Prices for Indo are through the roof though.

I know Victoria is much more consistent but looks like the water is around 55 that time of year, booties temps for me, and I can't surf in booties so that region is prob off the table.

A lot of good setups, beautiful stretch of coast. Not sure about consistency, was always under the impression it was more consistent in Winter then Sydney and N NSW, but could be wrong.

Probably dropping in on you, California
That's 4 grand between my wife and I just for tickets. I don't want to pay that.
yup i get it. especially x2 people

the plane tix are pricey AF. i was finally able to upgrade my flight tomorrow and it was 450$ to get premium economy on an already 1800 dollar flight and that was one of 3 flights i had to pay for. you can always fly china air :roflmao:

the flights were pricey but 2 weeks at a nice all inclusive resort with an epic wave out front was relatively cheap all things considered.

How much is the difference to AUS, especially factoring in accommodations?

V. much so.

Insane number of set-ups with amazing scenery and not that many people around.

Consistency is pretty good in July.

Can get by fine in a 3/2 steamer.

Base yourself in Ulladulla or just south or north of there.

Still some true world class secret spots in that area.

Unfortunately the Noa Deane Noz vid has been taken down, most of that is shot in that area.
Here's a trailer - all South Coast.

Would a non-surfing wife be bored out of her mind?

I'm living on the south coast at the moment and march to july is probably best time of the year for waves. Lots of variety in types of wave down here - points, beachies, reefs, wedges. Also really easy to get away from the crowd by just driving further south

Guaranteed to get good waves there in winter.

Gillos is a good wave.
There's a few really, really good waves in that immediate district (within a mile of Gillos).

But yeah, if you get a proper winter swell, it's heavy as fcuk around there.

Had my arse absolutely handed to me many times in 8-10ft surf on those reefs.

Being from Sydney, I’ve spent plenty of time down south. I echo FR’s comments.

lots of slabby reefs. I mean LOTS.
way less people than Northern NSW
winter is prime time
great beachies
pristine water

For me, a 3/2 with booties or 4/3 without from August onwards would Be fine.
