i’m not sure why investigating multiple solutions simultaneously is a bad idea
when you’re waiting for your doctor visit or physical therapy or surgery, read the fvcking book
what does anyone have to lose
why not try something
i didn’t think it would help me
i still don’t get it
but I’m pretty happy that I read the book

I ignore no one, unless I suspect they are trying to troll me into some pointless argument.

I heard that book mentioned in the myths of low back pain thread. I thought I remembered some people dismissing it as psycho babble. But since most of the science I read attributes low backpain to faulty neuro signals I decided to order it. We'll see....

I got it based on posts here decades ago. Maybe placebo, but it helped my back pain about 15-20 years ago. I am/was stoked. Pain comes and goes, but recognizing triggers and using the tools of the book and the movement associated work like VM posted has helped tons.

The laterality question you had likely results from various spinal and neck conditions from arthritic spurs on your cervical vertebra, narrowing of nerve and neck joint spaces, or musculotendinous inflammation and tightness. All may be aggravate with movement and often worse on one side than the other for a variety of reasons. Get it checked?

I have “Explain Pain” in pdf if anyone needs it. It’s better than Sarno.

If you have psychosomatic (fake) back pain that has no physical cause then his book has value. If you have bulging disc and pinched nerve his book is useless.

The fact that his book works for so many people is indicative of just pervasive psychosomatic back pain actually is.

All of our systems in the body susceptible to over and under reaction.

But they are all we got.

That an imaging.

This is good to know.

id be interested in a discuss about the difference between fake pain and pain, but not in surfdoc’s forum
unless the good doctor was interested in commenting and giving his medical opinion

A lot of times the nervous system creates pain because it doesn't feel safe in a certain position.

There is not structural damage. The nervous system just doesn't feel safe.

Chair pose always does that to me.

Understanding this has really helped me.

Your nervous system has feelings.

The majority of people who have bulging discs and pinched nerves have no pain. It is useful for people with pain to know this. I was told this by a pain specialist MD. He told me, “We will not do imaging (MRI) because if we do, we will almost certainly find pathologies. Knowledge of the pathologies will likely make your pain worse.”

I’m presently reading “The Book.” Mostly stuff I already knew. But he makes one point which contradicts what you stated above. There is no fake pain. Pain is itself the pathology (not the bulging disc). The cure is to know this. Dr. Von Meister was administering this cure to me three years ago when I had my first episode. “There’s nothing catastrophically wrong. You are not about to be crippled. One wrong move won’t hurt you…”

One thing I disagree with Dr. Sarno on, is he said he abandoned concurrent physical therapy because it reinforced the idea that there was something physical to fix. I prefer Dr. VM’s take, that lifting something heavy off the floor convinces the mind nothing is wrong. And in the process you get or stay fit.

The things between your vertebra are not even discs - they're LAFTs.
