Last night a pod of transient Orcas passed by the Tyee Pool while a few rowboats were out fishing.
Here are a couple of pics and identities of a couple of them, courtesy of Julie Collis.
Here are brothers T019B, aka Galiano, and T019C, aka Spouter escorting a youngster (unnamed).

Here's T019B and a couple of rowers looking on.

And here's the baby sneaking a peak by spy-hopping as one of the brothers keeps an eye on things.

Theses are sea-mammal eaters so don't chase salmon out of the Tyee Pool, although given there are no salmon in the pool these days it's rather moot.

Neat night though.

Take care.

Kauai's north shore ~
Being a Pacific Islander, I don't get to see such splendid creatures so close as the Photographers advantage is. Baby Orc is a bonus! Always bringing the Pacific Northwest goodies, Hump!

Holy fvck, they are huge! Those dorsal fins are taller than the people in their boats!

Amazing creatures. I'd love to see one really up close. I'd probably crap my pants, but it would be worth it (if it didn't eat me)

If you go to Sea World, they'll tell you that the collapsed dorsal fin is normal, when it doesn't happen in nature (w/o an accident). The males can have a dorsal around 6'.

Stay calm kids!

God blessed them, and God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth and subdue it; and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the air and over every living thing that moves upon the earth” [Gen 1:26–28]

Nice when that works out.
