Just to refresh everyone's memory and stoke nationalist tensions, NEVER FORGET what the President of Argentina said about Brasileiros -

""The Mexicans came from the Indians, the Brazilians came from the jungle, but we Argentines came from the ships. And they were ships that came from Europe," Fernandez said.

How racist is that statement?

Basically, Brasileiros came from monkeys - macacos

Argentina cannot beat Brasil because they don't have any black players - full stop.

Brazil had never won a match against the swiss in a World Cup, only ties. They're tough MFs.

Also, yesterday became clear how the team depends on Neymar to move the Middle field. Hopefully he's back for the next match and it's looking likely.

Suerte Brazil! :bowdown::bowdown::bowdown:

Always good for your country when the team brings home a World Cup.

Spain could surely use one now.

Imagine if the USA won a World Cup, the welcome home parades would be epic.

There'd be bigger parades in the US if Mexico won the World Cup. Anytime they play Mexico somewhere other than Columbus, Ohio or New Hampshire/Vermont/Maine, the game might as well be at Azteca.

Unless your idea of epic is a bunch of Chicanos getting arrested for yelling PUTO and throwing sh!t at the USMNT, in which case yes, it'd most likely be highly epic.

USA Moving on. What a stressful end to the game.
Lucky...they did everything they could to give away their lead, just like they did against Wales. Instead of staying on the gas like they were the entire 1st half, they just sat back on defense and ended up getting lucky Iran didn't score or get away with one of their dives in the box at the end of the game. They better bring their A game on Saturday against Netherlands.

Good to see the USMNT beat the Persians, but I don't think they will get past the Netherlands -

Great piece how the 1974 Dutch team changed the game with Total Football and one player in particular - Johan Cruyff, even though they lost in the final to West Germany.

I am going to be rooting for the USA, but damn it's always sketchy against the Dutch.

Man, the World Cup has barely started and it's wearing me out... so much alcohol... more to come. See, I too get 1st world problems.

Like Josh said the US were having their way with Wales and Iran in the first half and then tried to bunker and all that happened was 45 minutes of dangerous crosses and set pieces. If you put 11 erBBers out against Real Madrid and all Madrid did was boot it down the field and then let us get back into attacking position in front of their net, we could draw/win also.

1. Stop it with some of the MLS shitters
2. Stop it with the bunkering all second half with a one goal lead
3. Where, in the fucking actual hell, is Gio fucking Reyna?

Reyna's good at helping score, good at set pieces, and he's good at possessing the ball when you're trying to kill time. Instead we've got some club footed cave trolls out there you dunno where the ball's launching off to when they try to receive a pass.
