On the subject of Terns.. did you know that the Least Tern is the smallest of all the Terns and is considered endangered due to diminishing coastal nesting habitat.

It took me a while to pin point something. If you look at the basic shape of the bird, flatten out the wings a bit, a poof!!! you've got a shape thats very similar to that stealth bomber thingy...(the v-shaped one)

it's aweome that mother nature/evolution created this....

(or it could be the effects of the "king cobra 40" i'm enjoying! )

but i still think it looks similar!! nice shot keen!

You guys are posting some great stuff.
Here's our one and only canary chick so far.
It's a Gloster Canary and this one is the rare Vietnamese Potbellied version.

Another outstanding round of pics from all! Great work.

I snapped a few this afternoon in the nesting tree at Doho, just before heading to Pedro's for a few fish tacos with the kids. I think I'm gonna move to San Clemente.

Those skimmers have been hanging around just inland of the PCH bridge over river jetties for a couple of weeks now.

There was a bald eagle that kept on hanging around the Talbert Preserve this last March and April.

There is a freshwater pond in the Talbert Preserve visible from the Victoria Street bridge which has a bunch of species worth shooting.

Good pictures, all of you. I can't believe how clear and close up they are.

Nice one knice!

Ringer - thanks for the tip bud! I saw the skimmers this afternoon as I was driving over the bridge on my way home.
Also, I heard about the Bald Eagle being seen in that vicinity and coincedentally went looking for it last Sunday and that's when I spotted that pond you mentioned.
Not sure if it's accessable but I'm going back to find out this weekend for sure!

Awe - sweet one of that juvi BCNH! How'd you get it to pose for you with only the sun hitting it's face and what's this about moving to San Clemente?

Keen, the lighting was peeking through the branches and those little buggers just kept getting in the spotlights - ham's they were!

That one tree provided about an hours worth of awesome shots - I think I'll go back - but one must beware of huge exploding streams of birdshit spewing down from the branches without warning. I had a few narrow escapes. Don't shoot up without protection!

San Clemente - I've found myself down there three times in the last week... and I like it.

Scoring some shots of that eagle would be great - post 'em up when you get 'em!

Awe - heading out to shoot something, somewhere.
