Super stoker session this morning at my local. Sizeable west combined with some south swell. Took the 7'2 Gibbons twin because it looked like a big playing field. Doc keels feel really well suited to this board. I dunno if I'll go back to uprights in this board again. Few rando guys who looked undergunned and a few locals, pretty spready out. A SUP guy came out to the main peak and we barked at him until he paddle off to his own little corner.
Mostly lefts to start. Kind of a rip bowl with the wind blowing up the face. Was glad for the big board. Got a few really fun racers and some swoops through the inside bowl. Tried to pull into a double up tube and got smashed by the lip and flogged pretty good. On the paddle back out another double up landed right in front of me. I did that thing where I couldn't decide whether to ditch or dive and ended up doing a halfassed duckdive. I got sucked over backwards with my board and I did an end over end flip with like a sideways rotation thrown in. Is that a rodeo flip? Maybe one of you snowboarders would know. Anyways, it was pretty sick.
As the tide filled in the rights started shaping up and I ended my two hour session with a few long ones. Water has continued to warm up. Maybe like 52F or so now.
Wind is ripping now but I think there might be an evening session to be had if my knee allows for it.
