^ I was a little south of you and got some good sized surf as well.

In the aftermath of this swell and my Fiji trip, I've been feeing pretty under-gunned on my SoCal quiver.

Looks like I'm going to have to get a couple of step-ups.

Ordered a longer Burch asym and I might have to take some Pyzels out for a demonstration or two.
Do you live in SF?

Pretty fun today at the base of the mountain. Wedging lefts. Glassy and powerful. Still some residual funk from the past stormy day but nothing terrible. Rode the 6-10 Blackbird which was kind of overkill but allowed me to play the rip a bit and get a few nugs from deep. Evening sesh, the tide was higher and the wave was a bit more focused so I rode a shortboard. Got a couple really fun ones and spent a lot of time stuck inside working on my cardio.

High expectations led to a typical frustrating session in O'side this AM...every wave seemed to be under-the-lip wishful thinking or a closeout.

As the tide got higher every one that seemed makeable would end up pinching.
That bar has sucked ever since they dredged the harbor and dumped a bunch of sand all over it. It'll clean up again after a few NW swells, but it's been months since anything decent has broken there.

I hit my head on the bottom south of the pier some months back and that dredged sand felt like concrete. Seriously hard packed stuff.

Still trying to figure out if some of the epic looking shots from that zone over the decades, especially the 80s, are for real or just surf porn. So far I'm leaning towards surf porn but I do not live there...

It used to be good when there was a regular supply of sand migrating through the area. Now that most of it is choked off, you get the outer bar crumble, the deep hole in the middle, and the pounding shorebreak 11 1/2 months out of the year.

At least that's my best guess as to what happened and it's not unique to Oceanside either. San Clemente beaches have suffered as well.

But Oceanside can take a pretty picture still. So surf porn is definitely part of the equation as well.

Skipped Sunday and it looked junk on the cams so no big deal.
Had to do a rush job so couldn’t surf this morning. Checked the cams while I ate breakfast and it looked really fun.
Guess the job we had to try to finish today? The HIC shop in Mililani. Oh the irony. Looking at surf gear all day. But I stayed off Surfline the rest of the day. Haha. That’s ok winters coming.

Saw some fun ones checking but only got a few fun ones when out. WTF is up with this new flooding of people and their etiquette? 5 people paddled right on us with empty peaks on either side of us.

Fuse is so freakin easy. It just works. Took it cause the long period sets were pretty much closed out and the waves we got were the tweeners.

Looked pretty good this drizzly morning. Alas, fog thickened right as we were paddling out. Couldn't see any of my lineups, couldn't see the waves coming. Floating around, lost in space. Lucked into a few though. Got one backhand snap that almost made it worth struggling into a cold soggy wetsuit in the damp morning chill.

Phew, just got back from a semi stupid onshore session. 35kt victory at sea conditions, and very solid. Got two waves on the 7'6, plus one bellyboarding as the whitewater knocked me over on takeoff.

Massive tree floating in the bay made it too dangerous, so pulled the plug on it.
