No idea if it's a good deal or not, as I've been fixed on island for over 22 months, and between Madrid and here mostly for the better part of the last decade plus.

Just saw it announced on local news, thought someone from the east coast might enjoy Tenerife. It is one of the most beautiful places in the world, if you know where to go, and where to avoid.

300-400 micro earthquakes on Tenerife yesterday... try wait a few weeks/months before you come, lest she blow her top and you get an extended vacation, 6' under the lava flows?

Cant wait for all the rich yanks to buy/rent all the property for ridiculous prices like they did in portugal.

Cool if you have to visit family in the states (as some canarios do), but not if you want decent housing

Already have much more than decent housing. The process of which you speak already occurred when Spain joined the EU. Northern European salaries met with Southern European housing prices and many a pretty penny was already made. I highly doubt a few plane loads of overweight Americans will affect the gentrification process any further, especially since most Northern Europeans already occupied said cheap housing, and drove a huge construction boom, back at the beginning of the milenium. Twas a good time to be in RE here. El pasado.
