Planning a 'beat the heat' trip out of the Southeast for August of next year and of course wouldn't mind getting the tail end of a hurricane swell, inshallah....

Wife and 3 kids ages 7-13.
Not afraid to drop coin on nice accommodations.

Any suggestions?

Sounds like a good plan, have thought about doing the same. See if can wait until there is a tropical system in the Atlantic and then book the trip. I think NS picks up the swell better than anyplace else on the east coast.

Ever seen the 'Curse of Oak Island'? on History Channel

Looks like a bunch of little islands around there that have some sweet set ups for sure!

We are zeroing in on a spot about an hour north of Halifax. The VRBO are no joike cost-wise but this one may just be worth it. There are waves at the point out front. The whole area has so much fu%$ing potential.

Will report back.

I'd say wait for September...but with a name like HatterasGlass you know the drill hurricane wise. Good luck as I've seen some crazy setups there :shaka:

As with any successful surgical strike, wait for the forecast and go last minute.

I would - but I just bought 5 tickets on Canada Air for $240 each.
Couldn't pass that up.
I have board rental place location and house deposit made.
78 degree high in August will be awesome after leaving the swampy Southeast.
If nothing else - a cool part of the Earth to explore for a week.

Follow Nico Manos on IG. I went during Hurricane Danielle. I would like to say more, but out of respect for the locals...

Sounds awesome. I am chuckling reading the West Coaster's responses to Hatteras Glass.

I went to Montreal for a weekend last summer. Left sweltering hell and had cloudless 70s. Magic.

Everyone I know who made this trip scored, just hope for a tropical system.

what's the water temp? I remember hitting the beach just north of boston in july and water was in the 50s. Also, if there is a storm you know the flights are all gonna get cancelled unless you are well ahead of it.

West of the Atlantic. East of the ICW.

It can be in the 50s in July in NJ some years.

Nova Scotia has been on my bucket list for years. Several friends a scored up there. I'd say the later in August the better. Better yet September.
