Some ideas/advice, please.

I have loved my CC Wolverine (6'8), but dropping 18lbs has seen me go off it a bit. Too boaty, too wide/catchy up front, not nimble enough.

Quite often, though, when there are sectiony HH point waves, you need some length and girth to connect and glide. Maybe a slightly longer, non-extreme shorty, quad definitely? My old thoughts about a longer Pyzalien 2 may not be so far fetched, possibly 6'6 or so. Album Vesper looks good too, but I refuse to pay that much money if it's not a Keogh made with love.

Congrats on the weight loss (as long as that's what you were going for and not sick or something like that). How about a Rusty Not So Moby Fish?

Quad version of this?

That is a good looking shooter.
My dims are close to Maz’s as well. (62yr, 6’1” but heavier at 170-172lbs). A sub 7’ step up for a fish guy as an opposed to a HPSB guy is always of great interest to me.
Just landed in Manila again and off to the island tomorrow with my 5’11” Spacehawk and my 6’6” cosmic twin Varuna balsa Fitzy’s which I’m looking forward to getting some speed lines on.
The 6’6” is doing the “not a mid-length” thing since thats what I have already but the tomahawk could be on the next board purchase list.

Sounds like guys are liking their Shitake HP's. Maybe worth a look. Twinzer setup.

"A slimmed down high performance version of the shiitake for those guys that want more of an everyday board and don't want a midlength while still maintaining all that speed and flow "

Yeah this was my solution. I sold my 6’8 chilli mid strength for similar reasons to you Maz, and now have a 6’3 Shiitake hp that’s ~2L and 2-3” bigger than a regular shortboard for me.

A groveller it is not. I don’t surf it below head high essentially.

But I’ve been calling it my soft wave step up. So far very impressed with the combo of built in glide, loose off the tail, and predictable hold when necessary.

I've surfed with a guy who made the Shiitake HP look really appealing.

I would be inclined towards a board that is designed to be ridden longer vs. stretching out something like a Pyzalien, personally.

Thanks, guys. All very good suggestions.

And cisco, I'm all good and healthy. Just got my sh!t sorted, and the pounds came off. Cheers.

I have a 6' 4"x19"x2.5" Disorder Twin that is my favorite "not a midlength" board with glide as well as performance

Got one of those on order, I'm in the same boat. Except for the weight loss part haha. My wolverine is 6'6 x 20 3/4, the flying diamond will be 6'6 x 19 3/4. 38 vs 36l of foam if I'm not mistaken

@Maz why not reach out to CC and ask what he would suggest coming from the Wolverine. He’s got a bunch of models now and could probably point you in the right direction based on your feedback.
I'll take the model that's a Wolverine with a thinner and narrower nose, and a quad :)

I echo all comments about the Shiitake HP. It definitely fits in the "soft wave stepup" category. The sweet spot for me is OH+ B-grade NNSW points and bigger wally waves here in Sydney.

Mine's about 2 - 3" and 3L more than my HPSB.
