I can admit I'm not the right guy for all strength and conditioning goals. Like for instance your quest for a body that resembles the skinny fat housewives day drinking at the local wine bar....this obviously isn't something I can help you with.
Can you help me look like this?

Sure....but if you're making up your mind that static stretching is doing something physically useful, then you are setting yourself back.
If done properly, why wouldn't static stretching help whatever routine your doing?

There is a big difference between aging and atrophy. If you actually have muscle mass loss you probably need to see the physician. If it is just an issue of not being as strong as you were before, decrease in range of motion, or mild discomfort after extended use that might be within normal limits. Emphasis on might be.
