This Friday marks the end of a swell run that's getting dubbed "dream conditions" by many here, been pumping solid every single day 6-8 foot and offshore, with a few 8-10 foot days thrown into the mix, pretty much since 15th of October.

Been absolutely devoted to this swell, every day. My arms, shoulders and neck are beyond repair, but my mental state is golden.

Waiting for the other shoe to drop.....

They sure do. It ain’t just “let’s wheel the old rocker out there and let ‘em wheeze out a set of sing along songs and then get them to bed”

both of those guys still bring it like it’s 1994

Edit because now I’m googling to see if they play the northeast

dammit last show of the tour at the Hollywood bowl tonight. I would have flown out for that we are due for a work/surf trip to LA/OC/NCSD

Excellent conversation between a psychologist (Jordan Peterson) and neuroscientist (Andrew Huberman). Answers to what a lot of people here are going through are probably here...

The first 40 minutes are pretty technically oriented, but afterwards it's basically loads of research anecdotes that are so incredibly valuable - stuff about motivation, learning, depression, addiction, feelings of worthlessness, etc and how dopamine dominates the show.

Would recommend listening to this after that:

I listened to the Huberman podcast a long while back, but listening to the Jordan Peterson/Huberman podcast first would give it more purpose.

Got a synopsis?
Dopamine is the main driver of our existence and has a direct effect on how you feel day to day and perceive the world; as the modern era is one of indulgence it's very easy to throw the system off balance. Addiction, smartphones, pornography, the layering of dopamine inducing activities, etc. Why certain activities lose their luster. Why wave pools suck. Why doing menial tasks is important. Why goal setting is important. Why you learn and why you don't. Why you feel empty and unfulfilled. How to feel better (stop stimulating your need for dopamine release). The content relates directly to how some people are suffering here. This is all science content, no soapboxing. Relevant especially in our present era, as we have more access to dopamine inducing activities than any other time in human history.

I can empathize npsp -
Just lost one of my best friends to a heart attack recently - 2 days after Thanksgiving - 58 years old.
He was the sole caregiver for his mom, who is 95 and battling dementia.
This has been a rough year and take care.
Enjoy everyday as if it were your last. You never know.

Just learned that a friend died on the 4th of a heart attack. Lost my best friend last year on X-mas eve of same. Fook!! What is it with this time of year....
Enjoy everyday as if it were your last. You never know.
