Just as the Canaries has more than just the deserts of Fuerteventura.
Ask uncle Google about it... both archipelagos have a wide range of climates and microclimates. 7 major islands to both, few smaller ones in each. Wide array of altitudes and directions in terms of wind and rain/humidity/clouds hitting the faces provides for such a range you'd be amazed.
