EXACTLY - I think most are probably shocked to see that pros generally ride in the 19" to 19.5" category. I love it.No replies to the thread.

Looks like I need to be riding a 5'10 x 18.5 if I want to join the 'CT.
Also, I don't believe that Rio Waida at 143lbs is riding 2.5" thick boards.

im closest physically to ian gentil and kolohe but 20 pounds lighter an our dims are almost the same which tells me im in the ballpark of where i need to be with the less weight.
That volume:weight ratio is erBB dad spec.

Also wave quality. Read something that kolohes east coast contest board was almost 32L. In addition to the other deficiencies @vanrysss mentioned, these guys generally get to surf way better waves than us.
The Sharpeye website has him on 2 1/8" boards (https://sharpeyesurfboards.com/pages/rio-waida).
2 1/8 on 5'10 x 18 3/4 x 2 1/8 x 26 L ,the chart is for a board 5'8 x 18 7/16 x 26L, to get 26 L in those dims the thk is likely 2 1/2

there are some used/new boards made for Rio on the Sharpeye site that are 2.4.3 and 2.5 thick. maybe he's not 143 lbs. anymore

If this page is to be trusted, it seems more pros (not on the CT) are open to lot of volume.
Craig Anderson, 132 lb, on his 27L Hypto (which I'm pretty sure he surfs in normal conditions too)
Noah Wegrich, 165 lb on a 32L Twin Pin
Cam Richards and William Aerola also on high-volume boards in there.
