Thinking about adding a longboard to the stable. Looking for something light and more hi-performance but still versatile enough to walk up the nose. Basically, not too "loggish".

Depends on where you live, both type of surf and what shapers are around.

I've got a Justin Quintal Longboard from Ricky Carrol that I like. It's a pretty simple rounded pin on the narrower and thinner side but with enough heft to glide.

Mine is similar to this:

My Von Sol HPTC longboard fits that bill perfectly. Super, super fun board! This is 9'3" x 23" x 3", eps/epoxy.

you've never tried one; have you...?
A buddy of mine rips on his 8'0 Catch Surf Plank. Enough to make me want one. He did say that they don't engage on rail like a regular board though, that theres a slide factor for sure.

Of course I have. How could I have an opinion on them if I haven't tried? I've ridden Costco, doule's and some other surf camp board and they were all horrid. The reason they work for beginners is cause they float well and don't hurt you when you get hit. All they're doing is going straight so they don't notice how shitty they are.
